amfAR Gala Cannes: Duran Duran to Perform, Taraji P. Henson to Host for 2025 Program

The lineup for amfAR’s 31st gala at Cannes is coming together, with Duran Duran confirmed as the main act and Tajari P. Henson set to emcee the event.

Each year, the grand event held during the conclusion of the Cannes Film Festival will be happening at Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc on May 22nd. This show marks Duran Duran’s return to amfAR following their performance at the Cannes gala in 2013.

It’s fantastic having Duran Duran return to amfAR gala Cannes, and we appreciate their continued backing of our mission,” said Kevin Robert Frost, CEO of amfAR. “Moreover, we’re ecstatic that the remarkable Taraji P. Henson has kindly accepted the role as our event host for the night.

Henson expressed his sentiment in a statement: “I’m honored and thrilled to back amfAR at this year’s charity gala during Cannes. The battle against AIDS isn’t over yet, and it’s crucial that we unite and contribute to the groundbreaking research that could ultimately put an end to this tragic pandemic.

At this formal gathering, you’ll witness a real-time auction conducted by Simon de Pury, offering upscale products, adventures, and exclusive artwork. Once more, Carine Roitfeld will arrange a runway fashion show. Duran Duran’s performance will be their sole French live show scheduled for 2025. This appearance is before they embark on their European summer tour starting in Finland in June and concluding in Spain on July 9th.

Ever since the inaugural amfAR gala in Cannes, which was hosted by the late Elizabeth Taylor at Moulin de Mougins, this event has managed to raise a total of $297 million for their AIDS research programs and services.
