Amidst It Ends With Us Feud Rumors, Director Justin Baldoni Explains Who Should Direct A Sequel, And He’s Right

As a seasoned gamer of Hollywood drama, I’ve seen more than my fair share of behind-the-scenes squabbles and public spats. But the alleged feud between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni over “It Ends With Us” is one that piqued my curiosity from the get-go.

As the anticipated release of the movie “It Ends With Us” nears in 2024, whispers have been circulating about a supposed rift between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. While Lively portrayed Lily and produced the film, Baldoni directed and took on the role of the antagonist Ryle. As rumors swirl about the cause of this alleged disagreement, Baldoni has shared his thoughts on who should helm the potential sequel, “It Starts With Us“, and his choice – Lively – seems fitting.

During the debut of the movie version based on Colleen Hoover’s popular book, ET asked Baldoni if he would consider taking on two roles in future projects. In response, Baldoni chuckled and replied affirmatively with a smile.

You’re going to have to ask me in a little while.

Afterward, the interviewer expressed enthusiasm for seeing him once again as a director and portraying Ryle in “It Starts With Us” – this being Colleen Hoover’s second novel about Lily, where the story picks up after the happenings of the first book and her encounter with her former lover Atlas. In response, Baldoni stated:

Having worked in this industry for a number of years now, I firmly believe that Blake Lively has shown remarkable growth and versatility as an actress. Her dedication to her craft and keen eye for detail make me confident that she could bring unique insights and creativity to directing. It’s not just about her acting skills; her life experiences have equipped her with a rich understanding of human emotions, which is essential when it comes to directing characters on screen. So, from where I stand, Blake Lively seems well-prepared for the director’s chair.

During an interview for TopMob’s coverage of “It Ends With Us,” Blake Lively shared that she held significant influence over Lily’s storyline in the movie, referring to this as having “authorship.” Furthermore, she has been candid about her involvement in choosing Lily’s outfits, and her portrayal of Lily has garnered acclaim. Additionally, Lively served as a producer on the film.

Additionally, Lively has been actively pursuing a career in directing. She directed Taylor Swift’s music video “I Bet You Think About Me,” demonstrating her significant involvement throughout the filmmaking process. It is evident that she had considerable influence during the production of It Ends With Us.

Apart from being friends with Colleen Hoover, who penned the books, it appears that she could do an excellent job in directing the upcoming sequel, “It Starts With Us,” given her connection to the original story, “It Ends With Us.”

It appears that speculation is circulating about a potential disagreement between Lively and Baldoni regarding this movie. Although concrete evidence is lacking as to what instigated this supposed conflict, whispers are spreading about Lively requesting a revised version of the film from the editor of “Deadpool” and “Wolverine,” with Ryan Reynolds reportedly contributing to key scenes. It’s worth noting that Lively was conspicuously absent from photos with her “It Ends With Us” castmates at the premiere, and she hasn’t been participating in interviews with them either.

Regardless of the gossip circulating, Baldoni has consistently praised Lively in numerous interviews. In my conversation with him, he also highlighted her significant contribution to the movie.

Indeed, it makes sense that he considered Lively as a suitable option for the director of the sequel, and I believe she would be an excellent fit for the role.

The movie “It Ends With Us” is living up to expectations at the box office, sparking curiosity about whether a sequel will be produced. As new developments unfold regarding the rumored issues between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni and the possibility of another film, we’ll make sure to keep you updated.
