Amirah J Reveals Heartwarming Moment with Kaitlin Olson That Made Us All Tear Up

One reason I adore the series High Potential is due to the genuine portrayal of Morgan’s interactions with her children, particularly her daughter Ava. While Kaitlin Olson‘s character excels at solving mysteries alongside Karadec and the gang, her connections with her kids also take center stage. Consequently, during my interview with Amirah J, the actress who plays Ava, I couldn’t help but inquire about some of their poignant scenes together on the show. She graciously revealed the backstory behind one of their “most heartwarming” moments.

As we approach the finale of “High Potential” in its 2025 TV lineup (good news, it’s been renewed for a second season!), Amirah J reminisced about Season 1 during an interview for TopMob. I had wondered if there was a particular moment from filming that would resonate with her as they moved into Season 2. In response, she recounted a touching encounter she had with Olson that left me quite emotional:

In episode 7, there was a particularly moving scene for me at the police station where Kaitlin and I were both quite emotional. Before shooting began, she unexpectedly took my hands and we both took deep breaths together. This simple act stood out to me because it demonstrated that nothing else mattered in that moment – just her, me, and our scene. The cameras and everything else around us became insignificant. I found it incredibly touching.

To start, the episode she’s referring to is undeniably one of the most moving and intense episodes yet, in my view. This particular episode, titled “One of Us,” can be watched with a Hulu subscription. The plot revolves around the precinct being under threat and held captive. Interestingly, Ava was visiting her mother’s workplace during this episode and unknowingly became part of the chaos.

In the end, she turned out to be unharmed. Nevertheless, extracting her from the structure proved to be an arduous task, and the whole ordeal was incredibly tense for both her and Morgan, causing them significant stress.

Watching the episode alone stirred up my emotions, but seeing Morgan console Ava really tugged at my heartstrings. Learning that Olson was offering comfort to his young colleague during filming only deepened this emotional response for me.

It’s heartwarming to know that the actor from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” was prepared and eager to aid Amirah J, giving their undivided attention to her and ensuring she stayed immersed in the scene. I can only imagine how challenging filming such intense moments can be, and they can certainly be intimidating. Nevertheless, it seems that Olson played a crucial role in helping the actress concentrating on the narrative and her co-actors, while minimizing external distractions.

As a movie critic, I must confess, the bond between these characters off-screen feels incredibly heartwarming and personal, like witnessing a unique mother-daughter relationship. This emotional connection has me buzzing with anticipation for Season 2, particularly after the chilling cliffhanger involving Ludo in the last episode – it’s left me on the edge of my seat!

In summary, this story has strengthened my admiration for Kaitlin Olson’s lead role in the hit show even further, reinforcing the belief that she is ideal for the part of Morgan in High Potential. I’m thrilled to learn that we’ll see more of her as well as Amirah J as Ava, because the series has been renewed for Season 2, which will air after Season 1 concludes on Tuesday, February 11.
