Amy Adams Boards ‘Cape Fear’ Series at Apple

Apple has lined up a second A-list name for its Cape Fear series.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share that I’ll be sharing the screen with Javier Bardem in an upcoming thriller. Notably, this project boasts heavyweights like Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese among its executive producers. Interestingly, they collaborated for a remake of a 1962 classic, back in 1991. Furthermore, I’ll be contributing to the production side of things as an Executive Producer too.

Similar to the two films (based on John D. MacDonald’s novel The Executioners) and the upcoming “Cape Fear” series, the storyline revolves around a released convict, Max Cady (portrayed by Bardem), who targets a couple he believes wronged him during his trial – the married attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden. In this adaptation, Scarlett Johansson will portray Anna.

The upcoming 10-part series will incorporate a contemporary angle, delving into America’s fascination with real-life crimes.

The series titled Cape Fear is orchestrated by writer and showrunner Nick Antosca (known for his work on The Act and A Friend of the Family). Universal Studio Group’s UCP, where Antosca has a general contract, and Amblin Television are responsible for its production. Antosca co-executive produces alongside Alex Hedlund, his partner at Eat the Cat. Scorsese, Spielberg, Darryl Frank, and Justin Falvey from Amblin Television also serve as executive producers. Adams and Bardem are additionally involved in the project.

Adams has been nominated for six Oscars, with her most recent nomination being in 2019 for the film “Vice.” She also received Emmy nominations as both the lead actress and a producer for HBO’s miniseries “Sharp Objects” in 2018. Some of her latest projects include “Nightbitch,” “Disenchanted,” and “The Woman in the Window.” Adams is also set to star in and produce the upcoming comedy film “Lazy Susans.” She is represented by Linden Entertainment, WME, and Sloane Offer.
