As someone who has always dreamt of being part of the Saturday Night Live (SNL) family, I can only imagine the unforgettable experiences that come with it – especially those legendary after-parties! Amy Poehler’s tale of an actual blizzard party with The Strokes sounds like a winter wonderland come to life. If only Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation was there to document every snowflake!
For many individuals, the period we’re currently in is often referred to as “party time” due to the numerous social events that occur during the holiday season. Interestingly, it appears that being part of the cast for Saturday Night Live extends this party phase to match each television season, given the legendary status of their post-shows when it comes to high-profile celebrations. Lately, Amy Poehler, Jason Sudeikis, and others have shared their ideal SNL parties, with Foo Fighters and a “blizzard” making appearances in these stories.
Amy Poehler’s Best SNL After Party Was During A Blizzard
I’m sure that if you ask 10 people what their idea of a great party is you’ll get 10 different answers, and that’s essentially what happened when Vulture recently asked a number of SNL luminaries, both past and current, to talk about their favorite Saturday Night Live after parties. Inside Out 2 star Amy Poehler, who starred from 2001-2008, got the best party, um, party started by remembering the event that came after an episode hosted by eventual The Holdovers Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti:
Once upon a time, during a genuine snowstorm, Paul Giamatti hosted an event that unexpectedly transformed into a festive gathering featuring the band The Strokes. When I mention ‘blizzard,’ I’m referring to heavy snowfall.
It’s no surprise that the actress who played meticulous Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation would clarify explicitly that her mentioning a blizzard at her favorite SNL party wasn’t figurative. While it sounds like an exciting event, I can’t help but wonder if there are various types of parties, Ms. Poehler, and could you please elaborate on the specific kind this one was?
Jason Sudeikis’ Most Memorable Post-SNL Gathering Had Foo Fighters And Karaoke
As a movie critic reflecting on the success of “Ted Lasso,” I must acknowledge that its star and creator, Jason Sudeikis, rose to prominence during his tenure on Saturday Night Live from 2006-2013. While he undoubtedly attended numerous SNL gatherings throughout the years, one event stands out in his memory as particularly memorable – an impromptu karaoke session that caught him off guard.
Experiencing a karaoke session alongside the Foo Fighters. I managed to perform ‘Come Together,’ however, I had to glance at my phone for the lyrics, which earned me some gentle teasing from Dave Grohl.
Initially, I was ready to criticize Sudeikis for using his phone for lyrics while singing karaoke since it’s uncommon. However, upon reflection, it’s understandable that people can conceal their unfamiliarity with popular songs like “Come Together” during a traditional karaoke session due to the display of lyrics on a screen. In this instance, it seemed like an impromptu sing-along without the usual screen, so I believe the Ted Lasso Season 3 fan shouldn’t be too disappointed about his apparent lack of knowledge in this situation.
Kate McKinnon Remembered The Time Someone Ate Glass At An SNL Late Night Party
It’s common knowledge that many well-known individuals host extravagant parties, but I must admit, the anecdote shared by the charismatic Kate McKinnon from SNL took me by surprise. The way she casually and deadpan revealed this story left me in stitches.
I had a friend visiting who isn’t swayed by the glamour of showbiz, and I yearned to convince him that it’s all quite ordinary. That night, at the post-event gathering, my hair got tangled in Woody Harrelson’s sweater button for about twenty minutes, and we couldn’t untangle it. To add to the peculiarity, David Blaine appeared later and consumed a wineglass.
Indeed, McKinnon quickly realized that the late-night SNL gatherings were far from ordinary, especially if you weren’t attending them regularly throughout the year. Here’s the complete video: [link provided]
