Amy Schumer Got Permission From Kim Kardashian for O.J. Simpson, Robert Kardashian Joke in ‘Kinda Pregnant’

Prior to cracking a joke regarding the late Robert Kardashian in “Kinda Pregnant”, Amy Schumer made sure to ask for Kim Kardashian‘s approval first.

In an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, the actress talked about a particular scene in the Netflix movie where her character reads a bedtime story to a child while babysitting, and she uses a satirical pop culture magazine as the source material for the story.

Once upon a time, I was talking about a group of stunning ladies, known as the Kardashians. They resided in a grand palace, which their father had acquired through protecting a convicted criminal.

Prior to the joke’s inclusion in the script and filming, Schumer reached out to Kim for her thoughts on it first.

In her recollection, I reached out to Kim Kardashian. I proposed, ‘I’d like to tell this joke,’ and she agreed. She didn’t object, which just goes to show what a laid-back person she is. She even gave me the green light for the one about her father defending a murderer. That’s how relaxed she is!

In 2003, Kim’s father passed away; he was a longtime confidant of O.J. Simpson and represented him during his trial for the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her companion Ronald Goldman. Simpson unfortunately passed away in April 2024. A recent documentary on Lifetime delved into the life of Nicole Brown.

Back in the day, I had the pleasure of teaming up with Kim when she was all set to take the stage as the host of Saturday Night Live. Last year, during an episode of The Kardashians in 2022, I found myself working alongside Kim, helping her come up with some hilarious jokes for her monologue as she prepared to make her hosting debut for the first time.

The actress has openly discussed her friendship with Kim, praising her in a 2022 interview on The Howard Stern Show. There, Schumer expressed that she found the Kardashian family to be “very cool” and referred to Kim as an “amazing individual.

I recently found myself immersed in the comedic world of “Kinda Pregnant,” where my character pretends to be expecting, sporting a convincing fake belly to fool my friends. This hilarious movie is streaming on Netflix and boasts an impressive cast including Will Forte and Damon Wayans Jr.

Schumer expressed that her latest Netflix movie is ‘the one.’ She believes it’s just as comedic as ‘Trainwreck‘ and anticipates it to be successful.

The movie was produced by Happy Madison, which is Adam Sandler’s production company. She praised his involvement as a producer, stating that he’s quite hands-on in the process. He closely reviews scripts and daily footage, and her impression of him was positive.
