As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for personal stories, I find Ananya Panday‘s journey truly inspiring. Despite being born into a family of fame and facing initial criticism, she has shown immense resilience and grace. Her experiences of being bullied, not just in the public eye but also during her school days, are unfortunately all too common among many.
Despite now being a well-known actress in Bollywood, Ananya Panday didn’t achieve fame without effort. She faced criticism, online harassment, and bullying due to her family’s celebrity status, but it may surprise you to learn that she was also bullied at school and sought therapy in the past.
In a conversation with Barkha Dutt on We The Women, Ananya Panday reminisced about her school days, where she was often teased by nicknames. She admitted that during her formative years at school, she had been referred to as a hunchback, flat-chested, chicken-legged, and hairy.
She explained, “We were living in an insulated environment,” but now, due to social media, even minor occurrences are exaggerated, causing her anxiety. In that conversation, she also confessed that she has previously sought counseling and undergone therapy.
Speaking candidly, the actress from CTRL admitted that she struggled to express her feelings. She often felt extremely low, a state she didn’t always recognize immediately due to her belief that she was doing okay. According to her, it’s important to be aware that mental health and social media can have subtle effects, as one might not realize at first that something they read has impacted them negatively.
Back then, she’d casually skim over a comment and move on, but it seemed those remarks would linger in my mind’s depths for weeks, accumulating like unwanted clutter. Reflecting on the dark side of social media, I couldn’t help but remember an instance when someone created a phony Instagram account and spread vicious lies about us having attended school together and her fabricating her educational background to secure college admission. It was a harsh reminder of how online platforms can sometimes distort reality and inflict pain.
Initially, she expressed doubt, saying, “Nobody will ever believe this.” However, people did believe it, leading her to feel reluctant about using social media, as such experiences reinforce her sentiments.
