Today, April 25, 2025, Andaz Apna Apna is back in movie theaters for a second run! This classic comedy features Aamir Khan and Salman Khan as the main leads, along with Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, and Shakti Kapoor. Interestingly, the three children of Andaz Apna Apna’s late producer Vinay Sinha have shared insights about the film’s re-release. They mentioned that Salman Khan initially turned down the idea of a sequel but instead proposed the idea of re-releasing the original movie, stating that no one would benefit from a sequel.
During a chat with Lehren Retro, one of Vinay Sinha’s daughters revealed the origin of Andaz Apna Apna’s re-release. She disclosed that the concept originated from Salman Khan himself. While they were working on a film titled “Ready” together, where he served as an executive producer, and they were shooting in Sri Lanka, the idea for a re-release was born.
She said, “You were talking about ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, weren’t you? I mentioned we’ve been considering a sequel or something similar. He replied, ‘Oh oh, let’s not talk about a sequel, what would we even gain from it? Neither will you get anything, nor will I. Why don’t you re-release the original film first and then think about a sequel or whatever. Make sure to do it in high quality like Dolby, because back then it was only mono sound.’
Instead of sharing the idea directly, she discussed it with her father, Vinay Sinha, who endorsed the proposal. Shortly afterward, the movie underwent remastering, got scanned in 4K resolution, and was prepared for another release.
30 years ago, on November 4, 2024, the beloved comedy movie “Andaz Apna Apna” celebrated its anniversary. This timeless Bollywood classic was re-introduced to cinemas today, April 2. The film, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, stars Salman Khan and Aamir Khan as Prem and Amar respectively, two iconic roles that have left a lasting impact on Indian cinema.
Additionally, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor are also featured as the film’s love interests. Characters such as Crime Master Gogo, portrayed by Shakti Kapoor, and Paresh Rawal with his double roles as Ram Gopal Bajaj and Shyam Gopal Bajaj (Teja) have left a lasting impression on the audience’s hearts.
