Andor Season 2 Hidden Darth Revan Easter Egg Revealed

Attention! This article reveals SPOILERS for Andor season 2. One of the most thrilling Easter eggs I’ve encountered in this series, connected to the popular Knights of the Old Republic video game, is hidden within Andor season 2. The show, Andor, has been unique in Star Wars by avoiding significant cameos and focusing on plot developments rather than fan service references. However, a few discreet Easter eggs, such as this recent one tying into a cherished Star Wars game, have added an exciting layer to the viewing experience for dedicated fans.

Most of the Easter eggs found in the series Andor originate from a single source – Luthen Rael and his gallery on Coruscant, which boasts relics and artifacts from across the galaxy. These background items are always intriguing to discover, with one notable exception being the Sankara Stones from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. In an unexpected twist, one episode in the final season 2 of Andor showcased an Easter egg that ties directly to Knights of the Old Republic and even Darth Revan.

You Can Actually See Darth Revan’s Sith Insignia In Luthen’s Shop

Found On A Gungan Skull

In episode 10 of Andor’s second season, ISB Supervisor Dedra Meero challenges Luthen in his store, having unmasked him as “Axis”. During this confrontation, a Gungan skull adorned with gold engravings is noticeable in the backdrop. Similar to many Star Wars enthusiasts, we observed and highlighted this skull in our Easter eggs post for Andor’s season 2 finale episodes. However, some fans like @TodayinTor took a closer look at the skull online, suggesting that the emblem of Darth Revan’s Sith Empire is also etched on it.

In relation to the “Knights of the Old Republic” video game series, once categorized as part of Star Wars’ non-canonical Legends, this is another significant addition to its history that has been reintroduced into canon in recent times. Yet, it’s not the first reference to KOTOR that the show “Andor” has included.

What Does This Sith Insignia Mean For Star Wars History?

Darth Revan Was Already Canon, But Andor Has Teased A Major Part of His Legends History

Previously, Darth Revan was acknowledged within official Star Wars lore, with his name being mentioned by the Sith Eternal in Rise of Skywalker and even having a legion named after him. However, it’s in Andor season 2 that we find an Easter egg referencing Revan’s history again, specifically his Sith Empire, which marks the first time these details have been reintroduced into canon since then.

Beyond this, it’s worth noting that the design of the emblem was influenced by the Star Forge, an antiquated superweapon uncovered by Darth Revan and his disciple Darth Malak. This weapon, initially constructed by the Rakatan Infinite Empire, has been given new legitimacy in current canon through hints in seasons 1 & 2 of ‘Andor’. Moreover, the discovery of Darth Revan’s insignia on a Gungan skull implies an intriguing link between his Sith Empire and Naboo.

Naboo Has Surprisingly Strong Ties To The Dark Side

The Birthplace of Emperor Palpatine

It’s plausible that Naboo held importance for Darth Revan’s Sith Empire, given its potential future status as Emperor Palpatine’s homeworld and indications that the Sith Lord might have concealed an observatory on this planet. In the accepted lore, Palpatine typically placed his observatories close to substantial dark side power sources. This implies that Naboo might have been a location of a strong dark side convergence, similar to the concentration of dark power found on Mustafar where Darth Vader constructed his fortress.

Intriguingly, flashbacks within Andor’s second season involving Luthen and Kleya on Naboo shed light on the possible timeline and means by which they obtained the Gungan skull linked to the ancient Sith Empire. Interestingly enough, this plot point recalls the amusing “Darth Jar Jar” theory, which suggests that the inclusion of this prop in Andor’s background may have been initially inspired by this very joke (as suggested by a Reddit user who worked on the show).

All episodes of Andor are now streaming on Disney+.
