Andra Day Joins ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Season 2 as Athena

As a gamer with a penchant for mythology, I can hardly contain my excitement! Andra Day stepping into the role of Athena is not just casting news, it’s a testament to the growing popularity of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I’ve been eagerly following this series since its inception, devouring every book, waiting for the day when the gods would leap off the pages and into our living rooms.

Andrea Day is set to appear in season two of Disney’s “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” taking on the role of Athena, according to a recent announcement.

In Rick Riordan’s widely acclaimed teen book series, it is revealed that Annabeth Chase, portrayed by Leah Sava Jeffries, is the daughter of Athena, the Greek goddess symbolizing wisdom.

Day expressed his eagerness to animate this character and collaborate with these gifted performers, following Disney’s announcement. He teased, ‘Prepare yourselves for this thrilling adventure we’re about to embark on!’

The latest news about “Percy Jackson”‘s upcoming season two is Disney’s recent announcement concerning the casting. Jeffries continues her role as Annabeth, alongside Walker Scobell portraying Percy, Aryan Simhadri as Grover, Charlie Bushnell as Luke, and Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse. Daniel Diemer joins the cast as Tyson, the cyclops for season two. Tamara Smart takes on Thalia Grace, a demigod daughter of Zeus. Sandra Bernhard, Kristen Schaal, and Margaret Cho are set to appear as guest stars in their roles as the Gray Sisters.

The second season, scheduled for release in 2025, takes inspiration from “The Sea of Monsters,” the second novel in Riordan’s “Percy Jackson” series. A year has passed since the events of season one, and Percy finds his world in disarray upon returning to Camp Half-Blood. His relationship with Annabeth evolves, he discovers he has a cyclops sibling, Grover has mysteriously vanished, and the camp is under attack by Kronos’ forces. To restore order, Percy will venture beyond familiar boundaries and into the treacherous Sea of Monsters, where an unknown destiny lies in wait for him.

Season two of the show is being developed by Riordan’s executive team, led by Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz. Also involved are Rebecca Riordan, Craig Silverstein, Bert Salke, The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, D.J. Goldberg, James Bobin, Jim Rowe, Albert Kim, Jason Ensler, and Sarah Watson.
