As a gamer with a deep appreciation for both music and cinematic experiences, I must say that André 3000’s “Listening To The Sun” has left me utterly captivated. With a lifelong passion for hip-hop and a soft spot for instrumental pieces, the arrival of New Blue Sun was a moment I had been eagerly anticipating.
André 3000 has debuted New Blue Sun’s accompanying album film, Listening To The Sun.
The intimate visual component clocks in at 90 minutes and can be described as a “virtual listening session,” with director Terence Nance focusing on 3 Stacks as he physically channels the spirit of his studio album in a serene, blue-lit setting. “I hope you enjoy the ride as much as we did. What you hear is what we did as it was happening,” the artist said of the “formations” of New Blue Sun at the outset of his new short film.
In November 2023, “New Blue Sun” was released, which was André’s first complete album in 17 years. On this record, he switches from rapping to playing flutes, creating a fully instrumental album that emphasizes wind instruments such as the Mayan flute, digital wind instrument, and various wooden and bamboo ones.
