As a fan of the dynamic world of podcasting and advertising, I am absolutely thrilled about Andrea Frieder’s new role as Wondery’s head of ad revenue! With her impressive background at Amazon Ads and Spotify, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this position.
I’ve just landed the exciting role as the Head of Ad Revenue at Wondery, transitioning from my previous position at Amazon Ads and stepping into the dynamic world of podcasting!
In her new role at Wondery, a company owned by Amazon, Frieder is set to oversee their podcast advertising sales. This includes both domestic and international podcast ad sales as well as the development of programmatic advertising, video, social media, and brand sponsorships. Additionally, she will be responsible for expanding into agency holding companies and international markets. She will report directly to Angie More, who is Wondery’s head of advertising.
At Amazon Ads, Frieder held the position of head for the theatrical, television/streaming, and global entertainment division. She began her tenure at Amazon in 2019, taking charge of the company’s theatrical sales for major accounts. Over time, her responsibilities expanded to encompass the television/streaming sales team as well.
Prior to her tenure at Amazon, Frieder played a pivotal role as one of the original team members at Spotify’s West Coast branch. There, she developed and expanded the local sales infrastructure for the company.
Amazon is presenting this new hire as a strengthening of its bond with Wondery, a podcast company that it acquired in 2020. Notable shows on Wondery include “How I Built This,” “Business Wars,” “Scamfluencers,” the recently obtained “New Heights” hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce, as well as Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert.
The worldwide audience for podcasts is steadily increasing, and I believe that Wondery is ideally situated to take advantage of this growth. This platform offers excellent advertising opportunities for brands alongside engaging and high-quality content,” Frieder noted. “I’m excited about the chance to work with a wide variety of original, partner, and international podcasts, as well as expanding the talent pool and franchises within Wondery.
Andi’s knowledge and foresight enable us to develop exceptional advertising offerings that link brands with our rapidly growing international audience,” stated More. “Her leadership in the advertising sector will enhance our sales potential, while also fostering closer ties with Amazon, opening up fresh opportunities for collaboration and advancement alongside Amazon Ads.
