Andrew Garfield Jokes He’s Going to Make a Three-Part Docuseries About the Carousel Horse in ‘We Live in Time’

As a gamer who’s spent countless hours scrolling through memes and forums, I can wholeheartedly appreciate Andrew Garfield‘s journey with the viral carousel horse from We Live in Time. It’s not every day that an actor encounters such a meme-worthy creature, let alone one that takes on a life of its own like this demon steed!

Andrew Garfield has checked out every meme featuring the carousel horse from the movie “We Live in Time“, and he’s quite enthusiastic about them.

Actor Andrew Garfield, who was nominated for an Oscar, dropped by “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” before the movie’s theater premiere. On Wednesday’s episode, Colbert inquired about the mysterious “demon carousel horse” shown in a promotional photo of Garfield and his co-star, Florence Pugh. This image sparked interest when it was first released online.

Garfield mentioned that he came across the promotional image while idly swiping through social media just moments before embarking on a six-day retreat in Northern California, where he would be without his phone for the duration.

He shared with Stephen Colbert, “When I look at this picture, it strikes me that perhaps only I’ll spot the unusual horse. It seems like we’re prominently featured in his advertisement, yet I might be reading too much into it. I doubt anyone else will notice it.

After wrapping up his seclusion and reactivating his phone, the “Tick Tick… Boom” actor remarked that the first thing he encountered was Colbert delivering a monologue about a horse. “I’ve seen all those memes,” he quipped, “and I was literally rolling with laughter in the airport lounge. So it seems everyone else was aware of it too.

Before handing Colbert a shirt featuring a horse image, Garfield quipped that he was planning to create a three-part documentary series to uncover “the reason behind the breakdown in supervision and understand why this horse has become so influential.

The movie “We Live in Time” introduces us to Almut (Pugh) and Tobias (Garfield), whose lives are unexpectedly intertwined. As they navigate a journey marked by time’s constraints, they come to appreciate every second of their extraordinary romance tale.

Because the movie’s plot revolved around a romantic story, Colbert seized the moment to inquire about Garfield’s initial encounter with love. The Spider-Man: No Way Home star reminisced about the time he met a girl named Sarah at a bus stop when he was just a young teenager.

He remembered saying that when she sang the Spice Girls tune ‘If you want to be my lover’, he was only 4 feet tall. She, towering at over 5 feet 11 inches, was a stunning blonde with flawless skin. As she asked him if he wanted to be her lover, he was just 13 and going through puberty. Excitedly, he agreed. Later, she invited him to a party at her house that night, making him feel as cool as Fonzie from ‘Happy Days’.

Garfield confessed that their relationship didn’t last long. As soon as he got to her house, the phone rang. When Sarah came back, she talked quietly to a friend, who then walked over to him.)

He mentioned that Sarah is ending things with you, apparently a guy from the neighboring high school asked her out and she’s excited, which reminded him of the time when he was infatuated with someone for three years. He chuckled and pretended to shiver dramatically as if still affected by it.

We Live in Time his theaters on Oct. 18.
