Andrew Lincoln Is a Repressed Family Man in First Look at His British TV Return, ITV Thriller ‘Cold Water’

In the initial glimpse of ITV’s forthcoming six-part suspense series, Cold Water, we see Andrew Lincoln portraying a somber and melancholic family man.

In the highly anticipated comeback of a star from British television, the role of John is taken by Lincoln. With his family in tow, John decides to relocate from bustling London to the peaceful countryside of Coldwater. Upon their arrival, John quickly forms a friendship with his charismatic and self-assured neighbor Tommy, portrayed by Ewen Bremner, who is married to the local vicar Rebecca (Eve Myles). However, John’s wife Fiona dislikes Tommy intensely.

As Fiona’s husband’s connection with their mysterious new neighbor deepens, her suspicions grow that Tommy may not be as innocent as he appears. Unable to shake the feeling that something isn’t quite right about him, she becomes determined to uncover the truth. However, when John’s hidden anger boils over and leads to a disastrous turn of events, he finds himself in need of help from his new acquaintance – oblivious to the fact that Tommy also has secrets of his own, secrets so dark they are downright terrifying.

Cold Water, which is being created by the team behind Black Doves, Eric, and Chernobyl, will be aired and streamed on ITV1, ITVX, STV, and STV Player at a later date this fall.

As a gamer, I’m hyped to share that this captivating series is helmed by the creative genius of David Ireland, known for his work in shows like “The Lovers,” “Ulster American,” and “Cyprus Avenue.” The first three episodes are skillfully directed by Lee Haven Jones, who has previously impressed us with productions such as “A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story,” “Passenger,” and even “Doctor Who.” The second half of the series is in capable hands, as it’s directed by Andrew Cumming, a veteran director recognized for shows like “Shetland,” “Payback,” and “Cold Feet.” Can’t wait to dive into this masterpiece!

ITV Studios will handle the international distribution of the series.
