Angry Birds Movie slated for a January 2027 release date

  • The Angry Birds are returning to the silver screen
  • But you’ll be waiting until 2027 to see them arrive
  • The film will see stars like Josh Gad reprise their roles and new cast members such as Keke Palmer

The news that Angry Birds were coming back for another movie was generally greeted with a response of “That sounds interesting.” To be honest, not many anticipated greatness from the initial mobile game making its way into cinema, but the Angry Birds managed to surprise quite a few people positively.

It’s no surprise that many are eagerly awaiting to find out what the third instalment of the series has in store. However, if you were hoping to see it any time soon, I have to disappoint you (at least for now), as Angry Birds 3 is currently scheduled for release on January 29th, 2027.

Creating animated films often takes a considerable amount of time, as evidenced by the long wait Spiderverse fans have experienced. They’ve faced years of uncertainty, with the announcement that the third and final film won’t be released until the distant year of 2027.

Those birds sure are angry

It’s quite plausible that the acquisition of Rovio by Sega played a role in the angry birds making a comeback to cinemas. Additionally, the strong fan base of the series has been a factor. Notably, Sega has found success with their Sonic the Hedgehog franchise and are now capitalizing on it with Sonic Rumble and its movie-themed skins.

It’s worth mentioning that well-known actors like Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Rachel Bloom, and Danny McBride are set to rejoin the cast, as they’ve all had significant roles since their first appearance. Furthermore, we can expect new faces such as the quirky comedian Tim Robinson and the versatile actress Keke Palmer, who recently starred in Nope.

As Angry Birds celebrates its 15-year milestone, it might be an opportune moment to delve into the thoughts of Ben Mattes, the Creative Officer of the series, regarding this special occasion.
