Animal: Arshad Warsi praises Ranbir Kapoor and Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film; says 'I enjoyed watching it'

As a seasoned actor with over three decades of experience in Bollywood, I have seen the industry evolve and adapt to changing times. Recently, I had the chance to watch Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 2023 film, Animal, and I must say it was an unusual yet captivating journey.

Despite being out for several months, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 2023 film, Animal, remains a hot topic in the town. Featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, Animal garnered mixed reactions from viewers. While numerous fans, including notable film personalities, appreciated the movie, some film enthusiasts severely criticized the portrayal of toxic masculinity and misogyny in the Ranbir-led production. The latest celebrity to express their admiration for Vanga’s work is Arshad Warsi, who is currently preparing for Welcome To The Jungle and Jolly LLB 3.

In a recent chat with Samdish on UNFILTERED, Arshad Warsi expressed his admiration for Ranbir Kapoor and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film, “Animal.” He shared that the world portrayed in this movie was unlike anything he had previously encountered.

“Arshad remarked, ‘One might not have seen Maine. It seems like something born from a person’s mind. Regardless, I found pleasure in observing it.'”

Arshad was discussing the idea that movies serve an entertaining function rather than being educational. Furthermore, he mentioned that the audience enjoys Marvel Studios’ Avengers because it presents a unique, unseen universe.

In a nod to Anurag Kashyap’s unique cinematic approach, the actor from Munnabhai MBBS expressed that his films don’t feel monotonous or dull, but instead reveal an entirely new realm, much like how Kennedy’s direction unveils another world.

Simultaneously, Arshad Warsi shared his thoughts on the challenging shoot of Priyadarshan’s 2004 film, Hulchul. Arshad reminisced about his discussions with the late screenwriter Neeraj Vora for the romantic comedy, mentioning that he pitched the idea for the 2004 movie to him by drawing parallels with Hera Pheri.

In recalling memories, Vora used Akshay Kumar’s character from Hera Pheri as an example to help explain Arshad’s character in Hulchul. Initially, Arshad consented to the role based on this reference. On set, when he examined his costumes, he found that while the explanation of his role was accurate, it was significantly less prominent than what he had initially understood – it wasn’t even close to the position he had expected.

The Hulchul actor stated that he wore his clothes in the film and waited for it to get over.

Returning to the topic of Animal, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma previously praised Ranbir Kapoor’s film and highlighted that S.S. Rajamouli’s directorial effort outperformed high-budget productions at the box office.

Additionally, Vidya Balan and Anurag Kashyap have expressed appreciation for the film “Animal” in the past. Conversely, performers such as Ratna Pathak Shah and Adil Hussain didn’t endorse the Ranbir Kapoor-led production.

Animal also starred Anil Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, and Bobby Deol in crucial roles.
