Anna Kendrick Gives Hopeful Update About Pitch Perfect 4

As a die-hard fan who has lived and breathed every note of the Barden Bellas’ harmonies since their first pitch-perfect performance back in 2012, I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of another installment in this beloved franchise! The idea that Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson might once again grace our screens as Beca Mitchell and Fat Amy has me practically doing cartwheels down memory lane.

Can’t help but feel it’s been an eternity since we last heard the enchanting harmonies of the Barden Bellas? The Pitch Perfect series, those hilarious gems from the 2010s, were more than just movies; they were a delightful blend of comedy and music. Alas, after the 2017 threequel, each member seemed to embark on their unique journeys. Yet, as Anna Kendrick spoke about one of her 2024 films during promotions, a glimmer of hope sparked for us fans as she hinted at potentially returning to the role of Beca once more.

On Thursday, Anna Kendrick graced the premiere of “Woman of the Hour,” marking her exciting directorial debut that will become accessible to Netflix subscribers starting October 18. During the red carpet event in Los Angeles, Kendrick shared some insights about “Pitch Perfect 4“:

Wow, I can tell you’re excited about that! You’ve expressed numerous times that it seems like Rebel Wilson is the driving force behind everything, so if she continues to hint at it, I’m willing to bet on it happening.

During conversation, Kendrick gleamed with excitement over rumors of another “Pitch Perfect” film in development. This enthusiasm from Kendrick follows Rebel Wilson’s announcement in May.

It seems that another one is in the making. They are currently working on it, although I can’t quite predict the plot as we’ve grown older. The main challenge, as always, appears to be perfecting the script first.

When Wilson conversed with her, she was aware that some executives at Universal were attempting to solve the mystery of a new Pitch Perfect film following the original’s success. At that moment, she hadn’t received a script yet. Kendrick, judging by her response, didn’t seem to have read anything either. Yet, she remains optimistic about another movie from the comedy series potentially materializing if Wilson continues advocating for it.

In 2012, the initial film release garnered significant commercial success, earning $115 million against an investment of only $17 million. The 2015 sequel surpassed this with a whopping $287 million at the global box office. Yet, the third movie experienced a drop in popularity, still managing to make an impressive $185 million. As Wilson puts it, for Pitch Perfect 3, the cast was largely replaced by a younger generation, making it feel like a surprising blow or shock to fans.

It’s quite possible that Wilson and Kendrick might revisit the world of “Pitch Perfect” at some point in their careers! Since the original films, several cast members have reunited on various occasions. For instance, Brittany Snow shared that she consulted with Kendrick during her directorial debut for “Parachute”. The intriguing question arises: how could the Barden Bellas return when they are no longer in college?
