Over time, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown into an enormous player in the entertainment industry, consistently launching movies in theaters and on Disney+. Among the upcoming Marvel films generating significant buzz is Avengers: Doomsday, a production featuring an extensive ensemble of characters. Given Anna Paquin’s recent expression of interest in reprising her role as Rogue, I strongly believe she should be part of the action.
The information regarding the movie “Avengers: Doomsday” is expanding significantly, largely due to the recent cast announcement live stream. Notably, actors from the “X-Men” films were confirmed, such as Kelsey Grammer, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen. In a past interview with ET, Anna Paquin was asked what conditions would need to be met for her to reprise her role as Rogue. She replied:
Being asked. I never got to fly, c’mon.
It appears quite straightforward, doesn’t it? The leading actor from the series “True Blood,” currently streaming on Max, doesn’t seem reluctant to make a leap as Rogue. With the X-Men returning for “Doomsday,” it seems like an ideal moment to incorporate this Academy Award-winning actress into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Disney+ offers an exciting streaming platform where you can find the Marvel Cinematic Universe, along with X-Men movies. Their plans begin at just $9.99 per month for their ad-supported option. For an ad-free experience, the cost is $15.99 monthly, or save 16% by pre-paying $159.99 for a year’s subscription. Check out this great deal!
As a diehard fan of cinema, I can’t help but feel a glimmer of optimism about Anna Paquin’s Rogue potentially gracing our screens again. Kevin Feige himself has hinted that not every member of the Avengers: Doomsday cast has been revealed yet, which means we might be in for some exciting surprises beyond the names already mentioned during the live stream. It’s still uncertain if Paquin or other X-Men veterans will join the film, but her enduring popularity within Fox’s franchise makes it a tantalizing possibility.
Fans who have followed the Marvel movies sequentially for years are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the X-Men in the shared universe, and Disney’s purchase of 20th Century Fox has made this possible. However, the studio hasn’t released an X-Men movie just yet. The exact timing is uncertain, but including several well-known mutants in Doomsday is a promising move towards that goal.

In her remarks, Paquin expressed that she never had the chance to portray Rogue flying in the movie. Instead, the cinematic version of the cherished character could only siphon powers from others. However, in the comics and many other adaptations, she possesses permanent flight, super strength, and durability, which she acquired by draining Captain Marvel’s life force. If she is given the opportunity to participate in the action of either Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars, maybe she will eventually be able to fly.
Anna Paquin was a key cast member in the initial X-Men trilogy, although she didn’t get many moments on screen during The Last Stand. Later, both her and her fellow actors returned for Days of Future Past, but unfortunately Rogue’s scenes were removed from the cinematic version.
It’s anticipated that “Avengers: Doomsday” will premiere in cinemas on May 1, 2026. As it’s not included in the 2025 movie lineup, we’ll need to stay optimistic and patient for further casting updates from the studio.
