Back in June, I was captivated by the arrival on the scene of independent watch brand Anoma with their unique timepiece, the A1. With its distinctive rounded triangular case, it immediately caught my eye. Since then, they’ve successfully launched and delivered the initial series, and now they’re unveiling the next step for this model: the A1 Slate. This new edition boasts a sleek black lacquered dial that promises to elevate its appeal even further.
According to Matteo Violet Vianello, the founder of Anoma and an Academy member of GPHG, our aim was to design something simple yet impactful, possessing a classic sophistication. He notes that in a world overflowing with color options, we discovered strength by going back to black – a hue that symbolizes both strong presence and ultimate subtlety.
The dial boasts a vertical brushed texture adorned with black lacquered triangles, lending it an interesting quality that causes the watch face to transition from a sleek glossy black to a subtle two-toned appearance.
The watch boasts a sleek 39mm stainless steel case that fits comfortably on your wrist, thanks to its curved, lug-free design. This design is reminiscent of the original Anoma A1 model, inspired by a Charlotte Perriand coffee table from the 1950s, maintaining its sculptural form.
From March 10, 2 PM Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) or 10 AM Eastern Time (ET), you’ll be able to place orders for the Anoma A1 Slate directly from the brand’s official website.
