Anthony Mackie Returns Friendly Fire at Spider-Mans Tom Holland: ‘F*ck You!’

Anthony Mackie Returns Friendly Fire at Spider-Mans Tom Holland: 'F*ck You!'

As a seasoned gamer and avid Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fan, I have been eagerly awaiting the release of “Captain America: Brave New World.” Having followed the journey of Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) since his debut in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” a decade ago, it’s heartening to see him finally getting his own standalone movie.

1. In an open and straightforward manner, Anthony Mackie expresses his excitement about starring in a solo MCU movie for the first time, which has put Tom Holland as Spider-Man under criticism. Mackie debuted as Sam Wilson/Falcon a decade ago in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” and has since reprised the role multiple times within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Following a well-received limited series on Disney+, titled “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier,” featuring Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Wilson will take center stage in a Marvel film when “Captain America: Brave New World” hits theaters next year.

To provide some background to Mackie’s latest remarks, during Ace Comic Con Seattle in 2018, Tom Holland playfully teased Mackie’s character for often being a secondary role in the series. In response to Mackie’s joke about never having watched Spider-Man: Homecoming, Holland humorously said, “I haven’t seen The Falcon movie – oh, right, there isn’t one.”

After a wait of six long years, Anthony Mackie is now ready to retaliate against Holland’s taunt during Marvel’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic Con. He did not hold back when the topic came up during the “Captain America: Brave New World” presentation, jokingly firing back at Tom Holland.

1. Original: He claimed I didn’t possess a movie. I responded, “Well, you’re not 5’11”.” However, I do have a movie now, but he won’t ever reach 5’11”! Yes, Tom Holland, take that!

Tom Holland Is Anthony Mackie’s Date for Captain America: Brave New World

As a die-hard fan excitedly recounting events, it’s clear that Anthony Mackie couldn’t help but revel in good-natured banter with his former Marvel co-star. Later, he extended an olive branch. During a chat with IGN post-Marvel’s Hall H presentation, Mackie playfully announced that Tom Holland would accompany him to the premiere of “Captain America: Brave New World.” In his own words, “I’m taking Tom Holland as my date for the red carpet!”

I’m looking forward to having Tom Holland join me at the movie premiere as my guest. As for Zendaya, feel free to bring a friend if you’d like, but Tom will be accompanying me.

In “Captain America: Brave New World,” Sam Wilson, portrayed by Mackie, will make his solo debut as Captain America. Previously, in “Falcon & The Winter Soldier,” Wilson inherited the title from Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). However, he was hesitant to embrace the responsibility due to his doubts about being worthy of Roger’s legacy. With newfound determination, Wilson puts on the suit and wields the shield as he confronts the Serpent Society – a formidable enemy with an ominous name.

Mackie was accompanied on stage by his fellow actors Tim Blake Nelson, Danny Ramirez, Harrison Ford, and Giancarlo Esposito. Until now, it had been kept under wraps which character Esposito would portray in the MCU production. Although the identities of the other cast members’ characters were previously disclosed, Esposito’s role remained a well-kept mystery. The actor had playfully taunted fans, implying that none of them had correctly guessed his part in the movie. Esposito has now unveiled that he will portray Sidewinder, the head of the Serpent Society. In the trailers, only limited information about Esposito’s character has been shared. However, the brief glimpses suggest that he has replaced his reptilian attire with a tactical vest and an extensive collection of weaponry.

Captain America: Brave New World
