Anthony Mackie Weighs In

More than a decade past, Anthony Mackie‘s character Sam Wilson debuted as the Falcon in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. Since then, there have been significant shifts within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Wilson now taking on the role of Captain America and starring in his own movie titled “Brave New World“. With the 2025 release date for this film fast approaching and Mackie having played several roles in other MCU productions, fans have started pondering how long he might continue with the franchise. Interestingly, the actor himself has addressed this topic.

It’s almost unbelievable to me that the actor from Half Nelson, who has been in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for so long, is a fact I still find hard to swallow. You know, I can vividly recall the excitement when it was announced he would play Sam and when we first saw official artwork of the character. Reflecting on the Marvel films chronologically, Wilson has experienced quite a journey, leading one to ponder if his story might conclude soon. However, Anthony Mackie himself hinted in an interview for Esquire that he’s not ready to retire his wings just yet.

In simpler terms, you’re suggesting that the next decade will likely see more Avengers movies and potentially new appearances from characters like Spider-Man and Fantastic Four. However, it’s hard to predict what might happen in ten years, and you don’t want to be too old for the role of Captain America.

It appears that the actor who played 8 Mile veteran role is planning to stick around with the sprawling superhero franchise for another ten years. His reasoning behind this prediction seems sound. In the near future, he has two major projects lined up: Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, with the former slated to start filming in 2021. As for a fifth Captain America film, it’s not yet confirmed, but it could be on the horizon. It wouldn’t be unexpected if this actor reappears in other Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, considering his significant, in-universe role as Captain America.

It’s wonderful to see so much excitement from our main character, especially since he could easily grow cynical given his current position. However, his enthusiasm might be fueled by the fact that he’s just entered a new phase in his character arc. With Sam Wilson now taking on the role of the Sentinel of Liberty, there are numerous tales yet to be told. For now, though, let’s concentrate on the immediate challenges that Wilson faces within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

More on Anthony Mackie

In a lively scene, actors Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan helped introduce Danny Ramirez to his new role as the MCU’s Falcon with an emphatic, “You So-and-so!”

Alternatively, in a spirited setting, Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan broke the news to Danny Ramirez about him becoming the MCU’s Falcon by exclaiming, “You Devilspawn!

In the upcoming movie titled “Captain America: Brave New World”, Sam Wilson grapples with the fallout from a global event. As events unfold, Wilson becomes embroiled in a complex plot that ultimately uncovers a conspiracy. Anthony Mackie has hinted at what viewers can anticipate and has voiced his displeasure over the film’s politicization. However, he rightfully feels proud, as he is not only starring in the film but also serving as an executive producer – a significant achievement within the Marvel Cinematic Universe that only Mackie and Scarlett Johansson have accomplished as actors in the franchise.

Time undeniably moves swiftly, and it’s heartening to witness Anthony Mackie continuing to enjoy his journey within the Marvel Cinematic Universe while looking ahead. As Sam Wilson eventually soars off into the horizon, I can only wish for him a fitting farewell. Given the depth and richness he’s added to the character of Sam Wilson throughout the years, such an exit would truly be well-deserved.

Make sure not to miss “Captain America: Brave New World” when it arrives at cinemas on Valentine’s Day (February 14). Until then, catch up on previous appearances of Sam Wilson in Marvel productions by subscribing to Disney+ and streaming the content.
