Antonio Banderas and Olivia Colman Envision a ‘Lovely’ Paddington and Puss in Boots Buddy Comedy

The third movie installment featuring Paddington Bear is nearly upon us, and it brings along Antonio Banderas and Olivia Colman as new characters that Paddington and the Brown family encounter during a journey in Peru. When TopMob had the chance to chat with these actors for the upcoming film “Paddington In Peru,” they discussed their excitement about their characters interacting. Previously, both actors collaborated on the beloved DreamWorks film “Puss In Boots: The Last Wish.

As a fervent admirer, I can’t help but wonder about the thrilling escapade that might unfold when Paddington Bear and Puss in Boots cross paths. Antonio Banderas, who lends his voice to the dashing, orange feline, shared his thoughts on this intriguing pairing:

Initially, I foresee some challenges due to Puss’ unique personality. However, Paddington’s kindness is likely to win him over, making them friends in the end. Interestingly, in my previous movie with Puss In Boots, he had a chihuahua companion who he initially criticized but ended up adoring. In a similar fashion, I believe Puss will come to cherish Paddington because of his lovable nature. He’s quite an endearing character that one can’t help but be drawn to.

Isn’t it intriguing to ponder over? Both characters are beloved comfort figures in family films, yet one might wonder about their interaction. Antonio Banderas believes that at first, Puss’ spirited personality would contrast sharply with Paddington, but eventually, he’d realize how kind-hearted Paddington is and they’d develop a strong friendship. Olivia Colman then chimed in with her thoughts on the subject.

I think that would be a lovely buddy road movie, those two.

I’d love to see it happen! However, considering that the ‘Paddington’ films are produced by Sony and ‘Puss in Boots’ by DreamWorks, it seems rather improbable for these two characters to share a screen. But, imagine the fun if they did interact! As hinted at in the ‘Paddington in Peru’ trailer, this time Paddington and his human family embark on an adventure to South America to visit Aunt Lucy.

Upon arriving, Aunt Lucy is nowhere to be found, prompting them to embark on a journey deep into the dense Peruvian rainforest in search of her. During their quest, they cross paths with Antonio Banderas’ character, Hunter Cabot, and Olivia Colman’s character, Reverend Mother, at the Sanctuary of Elderly Bears. Similar to Nicole Kidman’s performance in the initial Paddington film and Hugh Grant’s role in Paddington 2, Banderas and Colman showcase their acting prowess and stardom by playing delightful, quirky, and unforeseen roles in the Paddington series.

Beyond being a renowned action star and acclaimed dramatic actor, Antonio Banderas has endeared himself to audiences through his performances in family-oriented films such as “Spongebob” and “Spy Kids.” Recently, the actor expressed that working in this genre is particularly fulfilling for him due to its profound impact on people. During our conversation, Banderas additionally mentioned that the ability to work on projects from various genres is one of the aspects he cherishes most about his career.

As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that the much-anticipated film “Paddington in Peru,” which has already graced UK screens, is now among the family-friendly flicks hitting cinemas near you this weekend! Mark your calendars for Friday, February 14, as it’s time to catch this delightful adventure on the big screen.
