Anupam Kher admits that not having children with Kirron Kher makes him feel 'void': 'It’s not a tragedy…’

As a lifestyle expert, I find Anupam Kher’s candidness about his feelings towards having children truly commendable. With a career spanning over four decades and a rich family life, it’s fascinating to see such an iconic figure share his personal emotions so openly.

Legendary actor Anupam Kher, known for his versatile roles spanning four decades, has been married to actress Kirron Kher since 1985. They formed a family with Kirron’s son, Sikander, from her earlier marriage. In an interview with Shubhankar Mishra, Kher shared that although he didn’t miss having his own child before, in the last seven to eight years, he has occasionally felt a sense of emptiness but doesn’t view it as a tragedy.

Kher mentioned that even though he’s content with Sikander, there are moments when he wonders if it might have been delightful to watch a child grow and develop a relationship. He openly acknowledged that while it’s not a regret in his life, he sometimes feels it would have been a pleasant experience.

As the senior actor elaborated, he confessed that despite being engrossed in work for most of his existence, once he reached the age of 50-55, he started experiencing a sense of emptiness. Part of this void was influenced by Kirron and Sikander becoming progressively preoccupied with their respective responsibilities.

Through his foundation, The Anupam Kher Foundation, Anupam Kher frequently gains insights into what raising children might be like for him personally. Yet, he underlined that not having kids is not something he views as a deficit, although at times, when watching his friends’ children, he may experience fleeting moments of longing.

As per Lehren’s report, it became known that Anupam and Kirron Kher attempted to conceive a child together, yet unfortunately, their efforts were not successful, despite seeking medical assistance.

Previously, Anupam was tied in matrimony with the actress known as Madhumati Kapoor, and Kirron had a similar marital history with Gautam Berry.

In terms of his career, Anupam Kher is gearing up for the premiere of his eagerly awaited movie titled Tanvi: The Magnificent, which serves as his second directorial project.

2002 marked the first time he took on the director’s role, with the movie being Om Jai Jagadish. This film boasted an impressive ensemble of actors such as Anil Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Mahima Chaudhry, Urmila Matondkar, Tara Sharma, and Waheeda Rehman.

Beyond the current project, it is also confirmed that Kher will feature in YRF’s upcoming film titled “Vijay 69”. This motion picture is scheduled for release on the streaming platform Netflix on November 8, 2024.
