Anupam Kher’s Vijay 69 receives special appreciation from Indian Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi; says compliment is like ‘Badge of Honor’

The heartfelt movie titled Vijay 69 by Anupam Kher, which premiered on OTT platforms on November 8, 2024, has left viewers spellbound due to its compelling narrative and talented cast. Recently, this film garnered extraordinary praise from the Indian Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi. As a result, Anupam Kher expressed his deep gratitude for the recognition, referring to it as a source of immense pride.

In the video posted by Anupam Kher, it’s clear that the Chief of the Indian Army expresses great admiration for him. He says, “I hold Anupam Kher in high regard because the roles he plays are very significant and they always teach us something about life. So, when he asked me if I had seen ‘Vijay 69’, I replied, ‘I haven’t been to a movie theater for the past 2-3 years.’ He then said, ‘It’s available on OTT platforms now, so I’ll watch it again the next day.’

I greatly respect Anupam Kher as his performances are profoundly impactful and always offer life lessons. When he asked me if I had seen “Vijay 69,” I explained that I haven’t been to a cinema in about 2-3 years. He then told me that the movie is now available on streaming platforms, so he watched it the following day.

He added, “In this film, a 69-year-old man is not old, a young man does what he does – he runs races, cycles, swims, and completes them.

(He went on to say,) ‘In the film, an exceptionally active individual, far from being elderly, instead of walking slowly, he participates in a race, rides a bike, swims, and finishes it.'”

Or simply:

“(He continued,) ‘In that movie, the protagonist, who is surprisingly young for his age, doesn’t just stroll around; he competes in a race, rides a bicycle, swims, and completes the event.’

Anupam Kher posted on Instagram a video he was delighted to receive, featuring General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of Indian Army, mentioning and commending him and his film #Vijay69 during one of his talks to young cadets. He expressed gratitude for the recognition, calling it an honor that feels like a badge of achievement not only for him, but also for the entire team behind #Vijay69. He will cherish this moment for a long time and concluded with “Jai Hind!” (Long live India!).
