‘Anyone And Everyone Is Welcome’: Melissa Rauch Talks Upcoming Big Bang Theory Reunions Ahead of Mayim Bialik’s Arrival On Night Court

As a long-time fan of both Night Court and The Big Bang Theory, I can hardly contain my excitement! The recent news that Mayim Bialik is joining Melissa Rauch for a Big Bang reunion on Night Court has me absolutely thrilled. It’s like two worlds colliding in the most delightful way possible.

In the 2024 TV lineup, Night Court made its comeback on NBC, resolving the long-standing question of whether Dan is Jake’s father in a two-episode arc. This popular sitcom has already aired its fall finale on December 3, but there’s much anticipation for what’s to come in the 2025 schedule, particularly with Wendie Malick set to star full-time as Julianne. Additionally, Mayim Bialik is joining forces for a reunion with The Big Bang Theory co-star Melissa Rauch from Night Court, a development that Melissa herself has shared will welcome all former cast members.

During a recent interview with TopMob and various other outlets at NBC’s press junket for “Night Court” Season 3, Melissa Rauch reminisced about Kunal Nayyar’s guest appearance in Season 2, as Mayim Bialik’s addition to the show had not been announced yet. When questioned about which other cast members from “The Big Bang Theory” she hoped would join, the actress expressed:

This season, you’ll encounter a few expressions reminiscent of the Big Bang. Officially, it hasn’t been confirmed, but rest assured there will be more such moments. They are my cherished family members, and I adore each one deeply, so feel free to join in. I’m eagerly anticipating organizing more mini Big Bang gatherings.

Since Bialik’s attendance has been confirmed, with delightful posts from both former cast members of The Big Bang Theory, it’s important to mention that Melissa Rauch hinted at “multiple” Big Bang characters appearing in Season 3. It’s still uncertain who else might join the cast when Night Court resumes production in the upcoming year, but it’s reassuring to know that Rauch maintains such a warm rapport with her colleagues from the series that catapulted her to modern sitcom fame.

Indeed, Kunal Nayyar joining the cast of Night Court demonstrated that their partnership didn’t automatically revert them to their old ways as Raj and Bernadette, and this season will be no exception given Mayim Bialik portraying a fictionalized version of herself. Interestingly, Melissa Rauch’s Abby and Nayyar’s Martini (yes, like the cocktail) formed a romantic bond during his Night Court episode back in February. You can now stream that episode with a Peacock subscription.

In NBC’s event, I inquired about Rauch’s experience filming the distinct dynamics between Abby and Martini compared to Bernadette and Raj on The Big Bang Theory. She responded by discussing it.

It was absolutely fantastic! We don’t get to see each other often despite our frequent conversations, but it had been ages since we last worked together on set, specifically during Big Bang days. The whole time, we just couldn’t take our eyes off each other. I mean, I never thought I’d be here with you! It felt surreal! Every time I hugged him, I was filled with joy and excitement.

Indeed, Big Bang Theory enthusiasts, rest assured that Raj and Bernadette didn’t develop their relationship out of the blue during the series! In fact, Melissa Rauch and Kunal Nayyar did share a kiss in the show, an event that might have seemed inconceivable for them to replicate as completely different characters on another production. Interestingly, there was no discomfort even with Melissa Rauch’s spouse present on set during their subsequent scenes together. She continued:

It was amusing to have my executive producer husband present during filming, as he’s good friends with Kunal too. He would encourage us to put more intensity into our kissing scene by saying things like “Go for it harder!” [laughs] Essentially, he was giving us direction on how passionately we should act in the kiss.

As of now, no significant Big Bang Theory reunions beyond Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch have been confirmed for Season 3. However, since we’re just three episodes in, there’s still a lot of room for exciting updates if that’s the plan for the upcoming year. In the meantime, take a look at Kunal Nayyar and Melissa Rauch as Martini and Abby sharing a kiss during the previous season.

The final episode of “Night Court” for this fall season will air on Tuesday, December 3 at 8:30 PM Eastern Time on NBC after “St. Denis Medical.” However, NBC has already announced the date for the show’s return in winter. It will be on Tuesday, January 14 at 9 PM ET. In the meantime, you can catch up on earlier episodes from the first two seasons of “Night Court” on Peacock, or stream all twelve seasons of “The Big Bang Theory” with a Max subscription.
