Apple’s ‘Before’ Trailer Puts Billy Crystal in a Dark Place

As a seasoned gamer who has navigated countless virtual worlds, I find myself intrigued by the real-world journey of Billy Crystal into the unfamiliar territory of a psychological thriller. Having grown up watching his comedic brilliance, it’s fascinating to see him delve into such a darker genre. The trailer for Before offers a chilling glimpse into the complex relationship between Eli and Noah, leaving me on the edge of my seat.

Apple’s next series is putting Billy Crystal in an unfamiliar place.

Award-winning comedian extraordinaire takes center stage in “Before”, an upcoming psychological thriller premiering on Apple TV+ on October 25th. The streaming platform has unveiled a trailer for the show, where our lead actor plays Eli, a child psychologist helping a boy named Noah (Jacobi Jupe), who appears to have ties to Eli’s past.

Eli is dealing with the loss of his spouse, Lynn (played by Judith Light), at the same time as the enigmatic relationship between him and Noah becomes more intricate. The trailer (see it here) contains some disquieting scenes, such as drawings made by Noah and multiple shots of hands stained with blood.

Previously, Rosie Perez is seen portraying the role of Noah’s foster mother, while Maria Dizzia and Ava Lalezarzadeh are also part of the cast.

Apple TV+ acquired the series “Before” when Crystal joined in 2022. The production of this series is handled by Paramount Television Studios, which is expected to be one of their final productions before they cease operations; the studio closed down in August due to cost-cutting measures taken by its parent company Paramount Global. Any ongoing projects from Paramount Television Studios have since been transferred to CBS Studios.

Sarah Thorp, known for her roles in “The Bounty Hunter” on A&E’s “Damien”, is the creator of the series titled “Before” and serves as its showrunner. Alongside her, Crystal, Eric Roth, pilot director Adam Bernstein, and producing director Jet Wilkinson are also involved in executive production.
