AR Rahman’s bassist Mohini Dey drops FIRST VIDEO amidst link-up rumors with singer; claims he is just like her father: ‘His daughter is exactly my age’

As a long-time follower and admirer of the enigmatic world of music, I’ve witnessed countless tales of love, loss, and camaraderie unfold before my eyes. Yet, none has captivated me quite like the recent turn of events involving AR Rahman and Mohini Dey.

AR Rahman caused a stir in the industry when he revealed his divorce from Saira Banu, his wife of 29 years. Not long after, Mohini Dey, one of his bassists, finalized her own separation from husband Mark Hartsuch. Since then, rumors about their relationships have been circulating online. Eventually, Dey released a video and issued a statement to combat trolls who were spreading false information and unfounded speculations.

In a video on Instagram, Mohini Dey clarified the speculation about her relationship with AR Rahman. She referred to him as her mentor and paternal figure, expressing mutual admiration and affection. Despite this, she emphasized the need for kindness and privacy during this difficult time, as her divorce is a personal struggle.

Take a look at her video:

Accompanying the video, she wrote a lengthy message criticizing people who spread false information about her and AR Rahman. In this statement, she stated that it’s shocking to see the amount of misinformation and baseless claims made against her and AR Rahman. She felt it was criminal how the media had sensationalized two events. She also mentioned her pride in having worked with AR Rahman for over 8 years on his films, tours, etc., and valued her childhood experiences with him.

Mohini went on to express her disappointment at the lack of compassion people seem to show towards sensitive issues, using A.R. Rahman as an example. She considers him a legendary figure and a paternal influence in her life, playing crucial roles in both her career and personal development.

Towards the end of her post, she also requested everyone to be sensitive. “Media/Paps do not understand the affect it has on people’s minds and lives. Be sensitive. I don’t owe anyone any explanations but also, I don’t want this to brew and interupt my day so, Kindly stop with the false claims & Respect our privacy,” Mohini concluded.
