As a dedicated gamer and musical theater enthusiast, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the upcoming adaptation of “Wicked” starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. The sight of these two talented artists gracing the red carpet at the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony in their signature character colors was a truly magical moment for me.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony red carpet, Ariana Grande and Cynthas Erivo brought out the distinctive hues of their characters.
I was utterly captivated by Grande’s stunning choice of attire at the recent event. She donned a gorgeous, sleeveless pink gown that harkened back to the 1950s, designed by none other than Thom Browne. The dress boasted an ankle-length hem and a striking front bow in the same pretty pink hue. To complete her look, she accessorized with elegant white gloves and added a long, pink ribbon to her updo, perfectly tying back her hair.
I stepped into the spotlight as Elphaba in “Wicked,” dressed in a stunning 1950s-inspired emerald gown. The strapless number featured an angular skirt that accentuated my figure, while the wide-brimmed hat added a dramatic touch to the ensemble. In contrast to my co-star, I chose to forgo gloves and instead coordinated my long, intricately decorated nails with the emerald theme.
As a huge fan of musicals, I’m absolutely thrilled to learn that Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are set to bring Elphaba and Galinda to life on the big screen in Jon M. Chu’s adaptation of “Wicked.” Having grown up with the original Broadway production, I can only imagine the magic these two talented artists will bring to these iconic roles. Their genuine enthusiasm for their characters is evident, and I can’t wait to see how they’ll breathe new life into the story of these beloved witches. Fall can’t come soon enough!
The actors have publicly expressed their affection for each other as well. On Instagram Stories, both Erivo and Grande shared pictures of them interlinked hands while donning matching outfits at the Opening Ceremony.
Before the beginning of the “Wicked” press tour, Erivo and Grande deepened their friendship by getting coordinating tattoos. Through Instagram Stories, they both showed off their new ink – a “For Good” design referencing their characters’ famous duet from “Wicked”, as well as a matching flower tattoo.
More recently, Universal Pictures made an announcement that the musical film is now set to premiere in cinemas on November 22 instead of its earlier planned date of November 27.
