Ariana Grande Tears Up as She Addresses Criticism About Her Appearance: “No One Has the Right to Say S***”

As a long-time fan of Ariana Grande, I have witnessed her growth and evolution not just as a talented artist but also as a resilient woman who has faced adversity with grace and tenacity. Her recent interview with Cynthia Erivo was a powerful testament to the relentless scrutiny she has endured since her rise to fame, particularly regarding her appearance.

Ariana Grande addressed the criticism regarding her appearance during a shared interview with her Wicked co-star, Cynthia Erivo.

The singer who became popular for “Thank U Next” struggled to hold back emotions during a conversation with French journalist and media personality, Salima Poumbga, as they delved into remarks made about her weight and physical appearance.

Grande mentioned that she’s essentially been under public scrutiny since her teenage years, likening herself to a specimen in a petri dish. She’s heard all the criticisms about her, and once she addresses one issue, another arises.” – Erivo was holding her hand during this conversation.

She went on to say, “Shielding oneself from that kind of noise can be tough. It’s an uncomfortable situation, regardless of the context – for instance, if someone at Thanksgiving dinner asks, ‘Oh my goodness, you seem thinner, what changed?’ or ‘You seem bigger, what happened?’

Grandes emphasized that there’s a concerning level of comfort people have in criticizing others, which can be detrimental for everyone. The artist admitted that she copes with criticism by learning to disregard it, thanks to her supportive network of loved ones.

Grande expressed gratitude for her strong support network and self-confidence, but acknowledged the weight of societal pressure she’s faced since she was 17. She stated that she no longer welcomes such pressure into her life because she has important tasks to accomplish, cherished relationships to nurture, and an abundance of love to give. Essentially, she doesn’t provide room for it anymore.

“You keep yourself safe because no one has the right to say shit,” she concluded.

Since the start of her promotional tour for her latest film “Wicked” in November, there’s been a lot of discussion about Grande’s weight on social media. The actress plays Glinda the Good in this movie musical, which has garnered critical praise and grossed $112.5 million at the domestic box office.
