As a seasoned lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I have had the privilege of witnessing the evolution of many talented actors in Bollywood. One actor who has consistently impressed me with his candidness and humility is Arjun Kapoor. In a recent interview, Arjun admitted that he felt Vikrant Massey was a better actor than him in the film “Half Girlfriend.”
Being in the entertainment industry for over a decade, I have learned that self-awareness and the ability to admit one’s shortcomings are essential traits of a true professional. Arjun’s honesty about his performance in the film is commendable and sets an example for other actors to follow.
Arjun’s candid admission also reminds me of my own experiences as a performer. There have been times when I thought I gave it my all on set, only to realize that something was amiss during post-production. It takes courage to admit one’s mistakes and learn from them, and Arjun is a shining example of that.
Arjun’s honesty about the dubbing process also resonates with me as a performer. Dubbing can be tricky, and sometimes it affects the authenticity of our dialogue delivery. I have been in similar situations where I wished I could have delivered my lines on set instead of in a studio.
In conclusion, Arjun Kapoor’s honesty about his performance in “Half Girlfriend” is a testament to his growth as an actor and a professional. His humility and willingness to learn are qualities that make him stand out in Bollywood. And as for the dubbing process, I think we can all relate – who doesn’t love a good studio joke about the challenges of post-production!?
Arjun Kapoor, known for his openness, doesn’t avoid criticism but instead engages with it and acknowledges areas where he believes he could have improved. Lately, this actor has reflected on his acting in Mohit Suri’s Half Girlfriend and conceded that Vikrant Massey, who portrayed a supporting character in the movie, was actually a more skilled performer than himself.
During an interview with Galatta Plus, Arjun Kapoor openly shared his thoughts on his portrayal of Madhav Jha in Half Girlfriend. He confessed that dubbing the movie impacted the sincerity of his line delivery. In the film, where he learned and spoke in a Bihari dialect, Arjun expressed regret for having to dub the movie instead.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d express it like this: “In retrospect, I wish I didn’t have to adopt the dialect for Half Girlfriend during post-production. I believe I delivered convincingly on set, but regrettably, dubbing was necessary. Frankly, I’m not a big fan of dubbing as it can sometimes compromise authenticity in that particular moment.
Initially, Kapoor excelled at speaking in the Bihari dialect on set while filming, but he struggled to recapture that success during post-production dubbing in the studio. To be honest, he found the whole process frustrating and wished he could have avoided it altogether.
Instead, it’s worth noting that while the lead actor may have taken center stage, Vikrant Massey, who portrayed a supporting role, was believed to be a more convincing actor in this film and excelled at dubbing. As a result, his performance significantly added depth to his character on screen.
In his opinion, Vikrant (Massey) performs significantly better in the dubbed version. Moreover, he’s an exceptional actor throughout the movie, showing a greater range of subtle expressions or nuances, as Arjun put it.
In the role of The 2 States actor, there were expectations for a superior performance. Unfortunately, mastering the dialect proved challenging during the dubbing process. Simultaneously, he disclosed encountering scheduling difficulties while filming, adding to his inability to deliver an optimal performance. Yet, despite these setbacks, he views this experience as an opportunity for growth.
In 2017, the movie “Half Girlfriend” was helmed by Mohit Suri. This film was adapted from Chetan Bhagat’s well-known novel with the same title. Arjun Kapoor shared screen time with Shraddha Kapoor, who portrayed his character’s love interest named Riya. Simultaneously, Vikrant Massey took on the role of Kapoor’s on-screen roommate, Shailesh. Despite some hit tunes, the movie didn’t resonate strongly with viewers.
