After binge-watching countless hours of FBI: International over the past few months, I find myself deeply immersed in the intricate world of the Fly Team. The upcoming episode, “Nothing Sudden About It,” on October 29 promises to be another nail-biting adventure that takes us to the picturesque landscapes of Portugal.
The upcoming installment of “FBI: International” in the 2024 TV lineup finds the Fly Team jetting off to Portugal on October 29. Instead of a hostage crisis, this time they’re chasing down a missing American, with the clock relentlessly ticking. A sneak peek of the episode (available above) hints at obstacles for the case, and a remark from Wes Mitchell (played by Jesse Lee Soffer) suggests that “FBI: International” may be setting up a surprising revelation about his past issues with the media.
The video evidence suggests that the Fly Team is struggling with insufficient luck regarding CCTV footage, and by the time they access it, the case has already been ongoing for nearly half a day. Therefore, solving this case won’t be simple, even though the scene itself is visually stunning. According to the official episode description titled “Nothing Sudden About It” from CBS, here’s a sneak peek at what lies ahead:
During her senior year vacation in Portugal, when a U.S. high school student vanishes from a beach party, it’s the Fly Team who takes charge of the ensuing investigation. However, the case becomes more challenging due to conflicting viewpoints held by the missing teenager’s parents.
In the upcoming episode, viewers will need to watch carefully to find out how the parents’ actions might hinder the Fly Team’s investigation. However, it’s clear that Mitchell is less than thrilled that the mother had contacted the media before the agents had even arrived at the scene, a move that appears to add unnecessary complexity from the start. This situation reminds me of a moment towards the end of last week’s case, which took place in the Netherlands, and now I can’t help but reconsider it.
Following the conclusion of Episode 2 (available now on Paramount+), which was broadcasted on October 22, an ambassador proposed to Mitchell the idea of a joint interview as a means to boost his public profile. However, Mitchell tactfully declined this offer by referring back to the actual events that transpired during the case. Given his recent injuries and the emotional triggers related to his foster care upbringing, it’s understandable that he might not have been in the mood for polite small talk with the ambassador at that moment.
It could certainly be a coincidence that Mitchell’s reaction to the idea of getting his name out there last week is followed by his comment about the press in the clip from the next episode. Jesse Lee Soffer’s comments about Mitchell’s decade as a cop didn’t preview anything about the agent having a problem with the press, but I can’t help but wonder this early in Season 4. It’s always fun to speculate when there are more questions than answers about a character, right?
It appears that there’s some mystery surrounding Mitchell, prompting Soffer to question the situation he’s finding himself in. However, “Nothing Sudden About It” seems to be shaping up as another thrilling episode. The actor from Chicago P.D., who recently shared a teaser for One Chicago fans regarding the FBI series, is seemingly growing comfortable with his new position as the leader of International’s Fly Team. Regardless of whether his character might have reservations about media attention.
Don’t forget to catch CBS on October 29th at 9 PM Eastern Time for the upcoming episode of FBI: International. This airs right after FBI at 8 PM ET, where Scola is dealing with Tiff’s departure, and before FBI: Most Wanted at 10 PM ET, which introduces Nina’s family. As a reminder, you can always stream new episodes of all three FBI shows the next day on Paramount+.
