It’s unlikely that any other movie will catch people’s attention in the 2025 film lineup quite like one that blends animatronics, video game history, and early life experiences, and it certainly isn’t a collaboration between Audiences can expect to see M3GAN and Minecraft, although the idea is somewhat intriguing. What I’m actually referring to is the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster hit from Blumhouse, titled Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Although the terrifying horror movie isn’t set to hit theaters for a while, fans are already getting a taste with leaked production photos and perhaps our first major live-action FNAF 3 rumor.
Five NIghts At Freddy’s 2 Set Photos Reveal A New (Old) Location And More
As a movie enthusiast, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the release of “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” since filming began in South Louisiana back in Fall 2024. Josh Hutcherson, who’s set to star, has hinted that this sequel will be even more chilling than its predecessor. Matthew Lillard, our beloved William Afton, shared similar sentiments with TopMob.
Unfortunately, we’re still waiting for an official trailer, but some snap-happy photographers have given us a sneak peek into what the upcoming trailer might hold. So, while we wait, let’s enjoy these tantalizing glimpses of the terror that awaits us in “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2”.
Initially, images from the set have been appearing on different websites. However, the bulk of these pictures, as well as the rumor we’re about to discuss, has been compiled by avid franchise follower @katsterlingfan. Prior to delving into that, let’s take a quick look at some of the most thrilling revelations captured in the new photos.
- The Freddy Fazbear Pizza location seen in the first film will return, but in far worse shape than it was even when Mike was hired.
- A different FFP location will appear in the sequel with a marquee sign that features not just Freddy, but all four of the main animatronics modeled as the characters’ more cutesy Toy iterations. (Toy Freddy was confirmed via the first poster released online.) This pizzeria also looks pretty rundown and abandoned, but not completely.
- Fazfest is almost definitely an official part of the movie! Not only were pics captured of lamp posts with Fazfest signs attached, but fliers were also seen advertising a big costume contest. Stylized booths were also seen selling in-universe merch for Freddy Fazbear and the other characters, and I can only assume the booths were part of Fazfest.
Additional minor details could be spotted in the set photos too, like hints suggesting that the restaurant from the first movie might now lead visitors to the updated pizzeria. I’m quite fond of how the Fazfest street signs are yellow and purple, which gives a touch of Mardi Gras spirit to this fictitious gathering.
Rumor: FNAF 3 Is Set To Film Later This Year For A 2027 Release
It came as a shock that despite the massive box office success of Five Nights at Freddy’s, neither Blumhouse nor Universal had already begun work on a sequel. Even Jason Blum himself didn’t anticipate its enormous growth. However, could this timeline shift for a possible third movie?
Based on the information from this article, the production team has tentatively decided on the shooting and distribution schedules in private discussions.
According to the article, the team has privately agreed on when to film and when to release the movie.
According to a reliable source, it is rumored that the production of “Blumhouse’s FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S 3” will start approximately six months after the second movie’s release, and there’s speculation that the film might hit theaters as late as 2027. However, please remember this information with a pinch of salt since it is still in the early stages of pre-production and plans can shift.
In summary, the rumor about FNAF 3 carries little weight, considering it comes with a warning to take it with a pinch of salt. Even if it were true, changes during production could significantly alter those predictions and potentially delay the release of the third Five Nights movie to as far as 2045 or beyond. I’m not great at predicting dates without sweet treats involved.
Why The Five Nights At Freddy’s Movie Doesn’t Go As Hard On Jumpscares As The Game
If we accept this report as if it were a script from an advanced robotic series, then it might lead to a scenario where Blumhouse and Universal could replicate the swift production timeline that enabled yearly October releases for the initial seven Saw movies. It’s unlikely we’ll be preparing for FNAF 7 in 2030, but it’s plausible that the studio could continue producing horror films at a steady pace as long as Jim Henson’s Creature Shop keeps adding their creative touches to the non-human characters.
Currently, most of our enthusiasm is being held back with anticipation for “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2,” set to premiere in theaters on December 5, 2025.
