As Law And Order: Organized Crime Promotes Dean Norris, His Comments About The Stabler Brothers Hit Even Harder Now

As a die-hard fan of Law & Order franchises, I’ve been through the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with waiting for new seasons. The anticipation is always palpable, but the wait for Organized Crime Season 5 feels like an eternity! However, the recent news about Dean Norris’ promotion to series regular status has brought a glimmer of hope to my TV-viewing life.

The anticipation remains high for Season 5 of Law & Order: Organized Crime to debut on Peacock, despite the impending premieres of Law & Order and SVU in the 2024 TV schedule. Fortunately, there’s some thrilling news about the cast for the upcoming episodes following the shift to streaming. Dean Norris, who previously recurred in the fourth season of OC, has been upgraded to series regular status for Season 5, reminding us of what the actor shared about the Stabler family earlier this year.

In the second episode of Season 4, Dean Norris joined “Organized Crime” and portrayed Randall Stabler. This marked the first on-screen meeting between the Stabler siblings since Elliot (Christopher Meloni) debuted on “SVU” in 1999. According to Deadline, Norris will be a regular character this season. At the time of writing, there is no news about Michael Trotter’s return as Joe Jr. or Ellen Burstyn’s return as Bernie Stabler. However, I am eagerly anticipating more scenes featuring Randall.

As a die-hard fan, I had the chance to chat with the actor back in the spring, before the show’s renewal and around when Randall and Elliot attempted a risky intervention on their brother, not knowing it would be one of the last episodes of Season 4. At that point, there were still several episodes left, but revisiting our conversation post-series regular news made Dean Norris’ words about the Stabler family resonate even more deeply with me. During our initial talk, he commented on the failed intervention on Joe Jr., and his insights now carry a heavier weight.

Essentially, Randall’s aim has shifted towards reconnecting with the family he hasn’t seen for two decades, though perhaps subconsciously. Earlier, he was optimistic about the intervention, believing it would be successful. However, as things have started to become more complex than initially anticipated, he seems to be reassessing the situation and is determined not to give up now. He’s learned valuable lessons and intends to apply them in his pursuit of reconciliation with his brother.

Despite the hardships that Randall, Elliot, and Joe Jr. faced intensifying in later episodes, Randall’s determination to restore his family’s original dynamics persisted. Though circumstances such as Joe being taken by drug and weapons dealer Emery, Bernie’s memory loss, Eli anticipating a baby with his girlfriend, and Joe’s disappearance might make this reunion challenging, it’s plausible that Randall will strive to bring the family closer together in Season 5 for Peacock Premium viewers. It’s also possible that I might finally witness Mariska Hargitay’s character Olivia Benson from SVU visiting OC to meet one of the Stabler brothers!

During our chat in the spring, Dean Norris revealed that he, along with Christopher Meloni and Michael Trotter, developed their sibling dynamic for Season 4.

Previously, we’ve shared time collectively, but what makes our interactions even more authentic is that Mike and I share a past working relationship with Chris. This connection adds an organic feel to any setting or narrative. It can be challenging to feign friendship, so having this common ground is beneficial. Moreover, over the course of our collaborations, we’ve spent plenty of time together off-screen as well.

Without a doubt, the three characters portrayed by these actors weren’t often friendly towards each other in their scenes, but let me tell you something! The fact that Dean Norris has been confirmed as a regular for Season 5 fills me with an overwhelming sense of excitement. I’m not just thrilled because he played Hank Schrader on Breaking Bad for so long; instead, I’m eagerly awaiting any news about Michael Trotter returning, even if it’s a simple teaser on social media like the one Danielle Moné Truitt shared recently.

While you eagerly await the comeback of “Law & Order: Organized Crime”, take a trip down memory lane by rewatching the first four seasons, now streaming on Peacock. On Thursday, October 3rd, tune in to NBC for the premiere of “Law & Order” Season 24 and “Law & Order: SVU” Season 26 as they kick off their fall runs.
