As a long-time fan of NCIS and a connoisseur of gripping TV dramas, I must say that Austin Stowell has won my heart (and Gibbs’ too, if we’re being honest) with his portrayal of Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the prequel series, NCIS: Origins. His ability to embody the complex character and carry the weight of the franchise is nothing short of impressive.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs is once again gracing our television sets through the series NCIS: Origins, although Mark Harmon isn’t reprising his role for the main part (except for a couple of scenes in the opening two-episode premiere). Instead, it’s Austin Stowell who’s bringing the younger Gibbs to life in this upcoming show. As NCIS: Origins debuts on CBS, Stowell has humorously discussed his contentment with being single while filming the series.
Despite Stowell’s past recognition from films and series like “Bridge of Spies” and “Catch-22”, the new show “NCIS: Origins” positions him as the main character on a popular procedural franchise airing on one of the major broadcast TV networks. This means more people will become acquainted with him, sparking increased curiosity about his personal life. Regarding romantic matters, however, he has nothing to disclose due to his busy schedule, as he explained to People magazine.
I’m in a relationship with a TV show. I am here Monday through Friday … Remember those 300 people that I was telling you about? They are all my boyfriends and girlfriends.
Producing episodes for the TV series, such as NCIS: Origins, requires a great deal of time and effort from many individuals. Currently, Austin Stowell is so occupied with his work on NCIS: Origins that he doesn’t have the spare time to engage in a romantic relationship. Instead, he spends most of his time with the cast and crew members of NCIS: Origins, jokingly referring to them as his “boyfriends and girlfriends.” However, if Austin were seeking a romantic partner, kindness would be an essential trait for that person. In his own words:
By observing how people interact with others on the street, you can often gain valuable insights into their character in those brief encounters.
Austin Stowell’s observations about his personal life being single resonate, as his character in NCIS: Origins also shuns romance, though for contrasting motives. The series is set several months following the tragic deaths of Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ wife Shannon and daughter Kelly at the hands of drug dealer Pedro Hernandez. Though Gibbs swiftly avenged their murders, his grief over their loss remains palpable. Viewers of NCIS are aware that despite Gibbs remarrying three times in the future, he remains tormented by the events surrounding Shannon and Kelly, finding no real peace until his departure in early Season 19.
Every Monday at 10 pm Eastern Time, you can catch the latest episodes of NCIS: Origins on CBS. If you miss it, don’t worry – you can stream it later with a Paramount+ subscription. The show stars Austin Stowell alongside Kyle Schmid, Mariel Molino, Diany Rodriguez, Tyla Abercrumbie, and Gina Lucita Monreal and David J. North are the creators of the series.
