As Percy Jackson And The Olympians Season 2 Starts Filming, I'm Immediately Excited For 3 Things From The Book To Finally Be Adapted Right

As a lifelong enthusiast of Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series, I can confidently say that my anticipation for Season 2 of the Disney+ adaptation has reached Mount Olympus itself! After being utterly captivated by the fantastic portrayal of The Lightning Thief in Season 1, the announcement of filming for Sea of Monsters has sent me into a frenzy!

As a die-hard Percy Jackson fan, I’ve learned to tread carefully when it comes to book adaptations – they often fall short compared to the original work. But after the stellar job they did with The Lightning Thief in Season 1, I’m positively buzzing about how Disney+ will handle Sea of Monsters, the sequel, which is now being filmed. Can’t wait to see it unfold!

A week following the Percy Jackson cast’s visit to San Diego Comic Con for fan interactions, it was announced that production on Season 2 has begun, as confirmed by cinematographer Jules O’Loughlin on Instagram. Check it out below:

It’s thrilling news! The cast of “Percy Jackson” concluded 2023 by debuting Season 1, airing episodes up until the end of January, and now they’re ready for more. As a dedicated admirer of Rick Riordan’s book series, I can’t help but share my excitement about three elements from “Sea Of Monsters” that I eagerly anticipate in Season 2:

And, I’m Stoked For The TV Show To Include Tyson

As a die-hard Percy Jackson fan, I’m over the moon about the latest casting news! At SDCC, we finally got to know Daniel Diemer, our new Tyson, and it’s safe to say that he’s perfect for the role. His outstanding performance in Netflix’s The Half Of It has me thrilled to see him team up with Walker Scobell before filming begins. Can’t wait to see more of them!

Tyson plays a significant role in the remainder of the Percy Jackson series, given that he’s Percy’s cyclops half-brother. Upon re-reading Sea of Monsters, I found Tyson to be a character who experiences even greater isolation than Percy due to his being a cyclops and enduring a difficult upbringing. I believe the series will delve deeper into Tyson’s character, as it did with Percy and his mother, providing a more comprehensive portrayal of him.

I’m Excited For Chariot Races And What’s To Come For Camp Half Blood

As I watched the first season, it left me equally impressed by the show’s visual appeal. The craftsmanship in the set design was commendable, and I’m excited to witness this level of quality carry over into Season 2. One element from Sea of Monsters that intrigues me is the chariot races taking place at Camp Half Blood. I can hardly wait to see these thrilling races brought to life on my screen.

In Sea of Monsters, Tantalus transforms into the ominous camp supervisor at Camp Half-Blood, bringing a new vibe to the camp and setting an intriguing darker tone for the series. I’m eagerly anticipating how these events unfold in the storyline. Furthermore, it’d be fascinating to discover who will portray this character. Originally, Mark Hamill was slated for the role in the film adaptation, but he didn’t appear on screen. How exciting would it be if Hamill could finally bring Tantalus to life in a future production?

Plus, There’s The Princess Andromeda, Of Course

As a passionate gamer, I eagerly anticipate my upcoming voyage in the “Sea of Monsters,” where the ominous cruise ship serves as a central stronghold for Kronos’ formidable army. Alongside Percy, Tyson, and Annabeth, we embark on an exhilarating quest to unearth the elusive Golden Fleece. I can hardly contain my excitement as I envision this epic series unfolding with swashbuckling adventures aboard the ship, showcasing the diverse creatures we encounter throughout our perilous journey.

With both a Disney+ and Hulu subscription, you have an opportunity to binge-watch the entire first season of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.”
