In the Star Wars movies, Rey Skywalker made her last known appearance in 2019’s The Rise of the Skywalker, but luckily for fans, there will be more of her! It was announced in 2023 as part of Lucasfilm’s future film projects that a new movie focusing on Rey is in the works. Even better, Daisy Ridley will reprise her role as the character who has now become a Jedi master. Development on the movie continues, and we can’t wait to hear more about it from the talented British actress herself. Her comments about what she’s most excited for have us all eagerly anticipating this new addition to the Star Wars saga!
Just recently, I had a chat with Collider for my latest project, “Cleaner”, set to hit screens in 2025. Naturally, the topic of my upcoming Star Wars film popped up during our conversation. Being the cautious type when it comes to spoilers, I didn’t spill any beans about the plot details. However, I did share some insights about how I’ve been making a mark off-camera, contributing to the project in ways that fans might not realize yet.
I haven’t taken on a producer role, but I’ve definitely kept a close eye on things. I’ve been kept in the loop about the story and the script, so I’m well-informed about everything that’s happening. Over the past few years, it’s been fantastic to be involved from start to finish, knowing that we’re telling this story in the best possible way. We have the perfect cast and crew for the job, and being aware of that gives me a great sense of confidence. While I had some level of confidence before, I’m much more conscious of it now.
As a movie enthusiast, I’ve had the privilege of being privy to some behind-the-scenes information about this upcoming sci-fi gem. From what I gather, fifteen years have passed since the events of “The Rise of the Skywalker,” and our heroine, Rey, has risen through the ranks to become a Jedi master. Now, she’s dedicating her time to nurturing young Padawans in an attempt to rebuild a new order.
Due to her increased duties, the actress from “Chaos Walking” is undoubtedly collaborating with director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. This collaboration aims to capture the interest of younger, novice audiences for the “Star Wars” spinoff, introducing a new generation of Force-users. Screenwriter George Nolfi has also hinted at a tie-in with the original trilogy created by George Lucas, as human beings unite against a common adversary in this new production.
Back in 2015, I became a part of the Star Wars universe when I was chosen to play the role of Rey in The Force Awakens. This scavenger character of mine unexpectedly discovered she had the ability to wield The Force and was tasked with using it to overthrow the First Order. In the final episode, The Rise of the Skywalker, I managed to vanquish the resurrected Emperor Palpatine, who turned out to be my grandfather. By the film’s end, I took up the surname “Skywalker.
Initially, the actress from Murder on the Orient Express felt impostor syndrome about joining a well-established franchise that’s had a 30-year run. But now, she appears far more at ease and enthusiastic as her influence grows off-camera.
As a movie enthusiast, I can’t wait to immerse myself deeply into the intricacies of this film’s narrative, experiencing its twists and turns, and ultimately reaching the optimal point where the story is most effectively unfolded.
I can’t wait to watch the next chapter in Rey’s story, and Daisy Ridley’s excitement has me thrilled as well. The reason for Ridley returning to play Rey was her passion for guiding the franchise towards something new. Since Ridley is older now and has gained more filmmaking knowledge, she could potentially guide any younger cast members she works with. It’s said that life mirrors art, so it will be intriguing to see how Ridley’s creative growth unfolds during the production of this upcoming Star Wars film.
In the meantime before new information about the Rey film arrives, why not treat yourself by subscribing to Disney+ and watching the movies from the Star Wars saga immediately.
