Initially, it seemed like Australia had control during the morning session on Day 1, but India found themselves in a tight spot at first. Yet, they showcased a remarkable comeback with their bowling, resulting in a 46-point advantage over Australia.

In a remarkable display, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal established an unprecedented opening partnership of 201 runs for Team India in Tests played down under, breaking the previous record for the highest opening stand set by Sunil Gavaskar and Krishnamachari Srikkanth (191 runs) during their match in Sydney back in 1986.

In the third position, we find Gavaskar, teamed up with Chetan Chauhan. Their unforgettable 165-run alliance was achieved at the Melbourne Cricket Ground back in 1981.

This new partnership sets a record for the first instance of Indian openers scoring more than 200 runs together on Australian grounds, emphasizing the difficulty of batting at the top during these testing conditions.

A powerful pairing at the outset has put India in a dominant position in the game. Yashasvi Jaiswal secured his fourth double century, while KL Rahul came close to earning a century but was dismissed by Mitchell Starc for 77. With more than two days remaining, India plans to accumulate a significant score in their second innings to further strengthen their grip on the match.

On a personal note, Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul are eagerly gearing up for parenthood, having announced their pregnancy not long ago. Following a joyful year of marriage, the pair made the exciting announcement on Instagram that they will welcome their first child in 2025.

Athiya first entered Bollywood in 2015 with the movie “Hero,” sharing screen time with Sooraj Pancholi. More recently, she appeared in the 2019 film “Motichoor Chaknachoor,” where she acted alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
