Austin Lee Releases "Sculpture Park" PC Game

As a seasoned art enthusiast who has traversed countless galleries and exhibitions, I must say that Austin Lee’s work is nothing short of mesmerizing. His ability to weave surreal, digital landscapes that seem to spring from the pages of a N64 video game manual is truly extraordinary. The immersion his art provides is unparalleled, but with the announcement of “Sculpture Park,” it’s like stepping into one of his vibrant masterpieces.

Brooklyn artist Austin Lee is recognized for crafting surreal abstract paintings reminiscent of if Gumby were to wander through a dreamlike Nintendo 64 video game. Using AR and VR as a canvas, he imagines these peculiar landscapes to reflect upon the ongoing narrative of art history, while also investigating the impact – both positive and negative – stemming from the fusion of technology with our everyday lives. To offer an even more captivating experience, Lee shared that fans will soon be able to explore his eerie realms through a novel online video game titled “Sculpture Park.

In Lee’s perspective, the digital world serves as a platform to display all his creations, offering users an immersive journey through vibrant landscapes filled with colorful spires, reclining figures, and blooming tulips. Reflecting on our present times, he expressed to Hypeart that interacting with everything via a small phone might seem peculiar in retrospect. He believes that while a phone acts as an entry point to this digital world, it is not the ideal or final means for digital interaction. What concerns Lee is how difficult it may become to distinguish advertising and propaganda from our daily lives in the digital realm.

At the moment, the “Sculpture Park” software can be downloaded exclusively by Windows users. However, Lee has assured us that they are working on a version compatible with Mac systems as well.
