Avatar: The Last Airbender Collab Announced for Overwatch 2

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the recent announcement of the Overwatch 2 x Avatar: The Last Airbender collaboration has me genuinely excited! Growing up on a steady diet of Nickelodeon and Saturday morning cartoons, Avatar was one of those shows that truly captured my imagination.

It’s clear that since Marvel Rivals was released, there’s been plenty of laughter at Overwatch 2. However, Blizzard recently hinted at an exciting collaboration which could reignite enthusiasm for the original hero-shooter game.

It’s been exciting to see that Avatar: The Last Airbender has teamed up with both Fortnite and Smite, and now it seems the time is right for some cosmetics inspired by ATLA to appear in Overwatch.

Avatar Crossover Announced by Blizzard

Overwatch has just announced a collaboration with the universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Although no formal announcements have been made, it appears that certain skins resembling characters from the animated series “Avatar: The Last Airbender” have surfaced online. These skins are rumored to be for characters such as Zenyatta (Aang), Orisa (Appa), Genji (Zuko), Kiriko (Suki), and Venture (Toph) in the game.

In addition to the character skins, fans can anticipate receiving other types of cosmetic items such as stickers, player banners, possibly even highlight intros and emotes for certain characters who haven’t received skins in this collaboration.

A recurring issue with the game is that the non-binary character Venture hasn’t received any captivating costumes since joining the game. However, with the collaboration with Avatar, they receive a skin that aligns perfectly with Earthbender Toph. Interestingly, even Venture’s drill undergoes an exciting transformation into a badger mole; in the lore of Avatar, badger moles were the first earthbenders and were the ones who taught Toph to manipulate the Earth and see with her bending abilities.

It’s clear that Kiriko receiving another new skin isn’t sitting well with many people. Instead, they were hoping for additional content featuring characters from “ATLA,” such as Katara and Sokka. While Symmetra could be a suitable choice for a Katara skin, some fans think Mei might make a great waterbender given her existing abilities with ice.

It’s also probably way out there, but Junker Queen seems like a character who is crazy enough to have Sokka skin, and she can have a boomerang instead of a knife and ramble about cactus juice. It would seem unfair to give Genji a Zuko and a Sokka skin.

Avatar: The Last Airbender Collab Announced for Overwatch 2

This week, it’s fair to say that Avatar fans have found themselves in an intriguing situation. Not only did they get a hint about an imminent partnership with Overwatch, but there was also a leak revealing some plot points and concept art for the forthcoming Avatar series following The Legend of Korra.

Based on various leaks, it appears that the upcoming Avatar may be younger than Aang when he first appears in “The Last Airbender”. Additionally, there are whispers suggesting that the Four Nations may no longer exist due to a devastating event which claimed the life of Avatar Korra.

It’s going to be wild.

The collaboration between Overwatch 2 and Avatar: The Last Airbender is anticipated to launch on December 17th. Currently, the game can be played across various platforms such as Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, and personal computers.
