AVI-8 x Capcom Team up Again for the Limited-Edition Flyboy 1942 Automatic Pixel Watch

As a retro gaming enthusiast who grew up playing 1942 on my trusty old NES, I must say that AVI-8 and Capcom have truly outdone themselves with this latest collaboration! The Flyboy 1942 Automatic Pixel Limited Edition is not just a watch, but a tribute to an era of pixelated graphics and epic arcade action.

Over the past summer, AVI-8 teamed up with Capcom for their inaugural watch collaboration. Building on this success, the two companies came together once more, unveiling the Flyboy 1942 Automatic Pixel Limited Edition – their latest collaborative timepiece, inspired by Capcom’s iconic ’80s video game, 1942.

In their last release, they used 8-bit designs of airplanes for a bit of old-school nostalgia. But this time around, they’ve really leveled up the visuals with high-definition pixel graphics. Keeping the vintage spirit alive, the specially designed 3D dial has a pixelated texture and design, adorned with decorations and numbers in a font that matches perfectly.

Three distinct versions are available: Silver Ace, Gunmetal Ace, and Midnight Ace, each boasting unique dial designs. The Silver Ace model offers a stainless steel construction with a black bezel and dial, while Gunmetal Ace has a gunmetal-gray build that contrasts beautifully with its light blue accents. As for the Midnight Ace, it features a sleek blackened appearance, including a matching bezel and dial. Interestingly, only the Midnight Ace variation showcases the aircraft carrier that appears at the start of each stage in the original game.

The watches, coming in a 41mm case size, are powered by an automatic movement manufactured in Japan and feature a date function. Each model is accompanied with a five-link engineer-style steel bracelet and a complimentary leather strap. Pre-orders for these Capcom-collaborated timepieces are now open on AVI-8’s website, with the official launch slated for September 27 at prices ranging from $385 to $395 USD.
