Awake NY FW24 Is A Thematic Homage to New York City

As a lifelong New Yorker who spent countless hours commuting through the city’s bustling subways, I can’t help but feel a deep connection to Awake NY’s latest collection. The brand’s FW24 offerings perfectly encapsulate the vibrant energy and diversity of the city that never sleeps – a testament to its founder Angelo Baque’s roots.

Following a summer bursting with partnerships and collaborations, including those with FERG, Union LA, and Badfriend, Awake NY returns with their upcoming Fall/Winter 24 collection. This new line is a tribute to the brand’s roots in New York City and its founder Angelo Baque’s local heritage, showcasing vibrant prints, patterns, and colors across various transitional-season items

The collaboration between Awake NY and Vanson kicks off with the debut piece. This is a daring version of Vanson’s iconic Star Jacket, which features a striking color scheme of red, blue, yellow, black, and white, with the Awake NY crown logo standing out on its chest. The jacket also incorporates typical motor-racing details that are synonymous with Vanson. Other notable items in the collection include jackets adorned with camouflage and reptile patterns, tie-dyed sweaters, printed jerseys, and denim sets intricately embroidered with an extensive depiction of Awake NY’s “100%” graphic all over

In Awake NY’s notes, they mention that Angelo Baque drew inspiration from several favorite albums for his collection. Notably, Smif-N-Wessun’s 1995 debut album, “Dah Shinin’,” stood out as it was a regular listen during Baque’s daily A train journey from Queens to Manhattan, passing through Brooklyn. Other sources of inspiration include the album “Your Queen is a Reptile” by Sons of Kemet and the works penned by author Kodwo Eshun

Anticipate that the Awake NY FW24 collection will make its debut in their physical store located at 62 Orchard St on September 6th, Friday. A week later, it will be available online on their webstore. Prices for this collection vary from $48 to $365 USD
