As a dedicated follower of Bollywood and cricket, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia seeing Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan sharing the stage with the living legend, Sachin Tendulkar. Growing up, I remember my grandmother watching every single match of Tendulkar’s career on our old CRT TV, her eyes glued to the screen, her heart pounding in anticipation. And here we are now, sitting next to this iconic figure, who has not only graced the cricket field but also inspired generations of Indians with his indomitable spirit.
On August 18, Kareena Kapoor Khan and her husband Saif Ali Khan attended the launch of Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) season 2. They were joined on stage by cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar. Overwhelmed by his presence, Kareena couldn’t help but shower praises upon the legendary sportsman.
During the event, Kareena expressed her feelings by saying, “I’m absolutely astonished and thrilled to be seated beside a true legend, Mr. Sachin Tendulkar, whom we admired on our television screens at home, causing us to exclaim ‘Oh my God’. So, I am currently overwhelmed being in his presence and being involved with the ISPL.”
Actress from “The Crew” emphasized her long-standing admiration for cricket, particularly its team camaraderie. She stated that cricket embodies the essence of India’s spirit, and during matches, every Indian becomes captivated by the screen. In her words, “Cricket represents the heart of what India symbolizes, and during a match, every Indian is spellbound by the television.”
For those not familiar, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan are the owners of The Tigers of Kolkata team in ISPL. Recently, our beloved Saif appeared in all-black clothing, while Kareena opted for a chic look with a white shirt and grey pants. Interestingly, Bebo’s team clinched the inaugural T10 tennis ball tournament title by defeating Majhi Mumbai with a 10-wicket victory during the championship match in March.
In terms of work, Kareena is actively preparing for the upcoming release of her highly anticipated film “The Buckingham Murders,” set to hit theaters on September 13 this year. This film, directed by Hansal Mehta, had its first screening at the 67th BFI London Film Festival on October 14, 2023.
In the upcoming months, Kapoor will star in Rohit Shetty’s police drama titled “Singham Once More.” This high-profile production of 2021 also includes Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Shweta Tiwari, Siddhartha Jadhav, Dayanand Shetty, and Ashutosh Rana, among others. The film is aiming for a Diwali premiere this year.
Following the completion of these two projects, Kareena Kapoor Khan is set to join Meghna Gulzar’s film titled Daayra, a movie based on real-life events. In this film, she will share screen space with Ayushmann Khurrana. Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan is gearing up for his Telugu film debut alongside Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor in Devara: Part 1.
