As a dedicated fan of gripping psychological thrillers, I am absolutely thrilled to see Nava Mau joining the cast of You for its fifth and final season. The series, with Penn Badgley’s chilling portrayal of Joe Goldberg, has always captivated me with its dark twists and turns, leaving a trail of bodies in its wake.
In the fifth and last season of “You,” Joe Goldberg’s long-time antagonist may emerge as his ultimate challenge. This comes with the addition of Nava Mau, who gained fame from her role in the popular Netflix series “Baby Reindeer,” to the cast. Known for its chilling narrative about an obsessive stalker, the show takes viewers from the bustling streets of New York City to the cities of Paris and London, leaving a path of violence and death behind it. As the story returns to New York in its final season, fans can expect unexpected twists and hopefully a satisfying end for Joe’s enigmatic character (as reported by Deadline).
Mau feels right at home working with you once more, having previously appeared in “Baby Reindeer,” a show exploring themes of stalking, self-loathing, and abuse. In this production, Mau portrays Teri, a therapist and love interest to the compassionate Donny (Richard Gadd), who stands out as a sympathetic character amidst the series’ dark twists. Following her impressive performance in the show, Mau has garnered her first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series – a groundbreaking achievement as she becomes the first transgender woman to be recognized in this category.
You Season 5 Will Wrap up Joe’s Reign of Terror
Following four chaotic seasons of Joe targeting defenseless women and committing murder whenever it suited him, the show “You” is about to conclude its violent spree with a fifth season. In season 4, a mystery unfolded as Joe found himself in hot water for multiple murders occurring around him. However, season 5 promises his comeback to New York City. With Kate (Charlotte Ritchie), his new companion, and her substantial wealth on his side, he has successfully restored his reputation, shifting blame for his previous killings onto his late wife Love (Victoria Pedretti) and portraying himself as one of her victims instead.
At the Tudum event in 2023, Badgely shared some insight with fans about the upcoming conclusion of the popular show. “Joe’s past is full of unresolved stories,” Badgley mentioned, while images of characters with open-ended storylines from the series appeared on the screen. These included John Stamos’ falsely imprisoned Dr. Nicky from season one and Ellie, played by Jenna Ortega, who was left alone as an orphan. The audience has much to look forward to as Joe’s tale reaches its finish line.
You
season 5 entered production in March 2024 with a release date expected in late 2024.
