After the unveiling of his latest album, “Tomorrow Unfolds,” as “Una Velita” last October, this marks Benito’s first single release of the year. In the newly minted single, Bad Bunny openly expresses his heartfelt feelings towards the current political scenario in Puerto Rico, as his homeland prepares to elect a new governor. For the cover art, Bad Bunny is seen lighting a candle in remembrance of those affected by the natural disaster that struck in 2017. The lyrics include, “Five thousand lives they allowed to perish, and we will never forget that.” In what seems like an expression of his political stance on the ongoing elections in PR, Bad Bunny sings, “The palm tree they aim to hang the country from, one day we’ll bring it crashing down,” alluding to criticism towards the incumbent governor who is part of the New Progressive Party (NPP) and uses a palm tree as their symbol. Bad Bunny has consistently been outspoken about the voting process in Puerto Rico.
