Bade Miyan Chote Miyan Row: Merry Christmas producer Ramesh Taurani says, 'I think it’s a misunderstanding’; shows trust in Vashu Bhagnani

As a seasoned observer of Bollywood, I’ve seen my fair share of controversies, but this one surrounding Jackky Bhagnani and his father Vashu Bhagnani has been quite intriguing. It seems like every time I turn around, there’s another allegation or counter-allegation flying about.

Recently, Jackky Bhagnani and his father Vashu Bhagnani from Pooja Entertainment have found themselves in a series of controversies. The latest incident involves crew members of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan who claimed that the company failed to pay their dues following the movie’s underperformance at the box office. However, film producer Ramesh Taurani has recently shared his thoughts on this matter and expressed support for the Bhagnanis.

The producers of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan have faced criticism following claims by the film’s non-cast and crew members that they haven’t been compensated for their work by Pooja Entertainment. After the movie flopped at the box office, the technical team accused Vashu Bhagnani and his son Jackky Bhagnani of not paying their salaries. Yet, Ramesh Taurani, a partner at Tips Industries, expressed faith in the production company in an interview with The Indian Express.

Taurani assured the media that any issues between the BMCM crew and the producers will be resolved, and they will carry on without incident. “I don’t believe Vashu Bhagnani is the type of producer to engage in such behavior,” Ramesh stated, noting that Bhagnani has been active since 1995. He further mentioned that he has never heard of Bhagnani mismanaging funds before, and believes this is simply a misunderstanding that will be quickly resolved.

The dispute intensified when film director Ali Abbas Zafar disagreed with the producers, claiming they owed him approximately 73 million rupees. This matter eventually reached the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). Furthermore, Tinu Desai, director of Mission Raniganj, and Vikas Bahl, director of Ganpath, also voiced their concerns about unpaid fees from the production company.

However, the producers under scrutiny countered by submitting a police report against Zafar, alleging “misuse of funds”. Previously, Netflix had addressed Pooja Entertainment’s assertion that they were owed money. In their statement, Netflix declared, “These accusations are baseless. On the contrary, it’s Pooja Entertainment who is indebted to Netflix. We have a robust history of collaboration with the Indian artistic community and are cooperating with the authorities to settle this disagreement.

In the month of April 2024, the movie titled “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” hit the screens. This film features the acting talents of Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manushi Chhillar, Alaya F, Sonakshi Sinha, and Ronit Roy.
