As a seasoned crypto investor with a keen eye for opportunities, I must say that the collaboration between the University of The Bahamas and Snoop Dogg’s son Cordell Broadus, through his Champ Medici Arts Fund (CMAF), is nothing short of inspired.
5 students at the University of The Bahamas were awarded $10,000 each for their digital music and artistic works in the university’s NFT Digital Arts Project, a venture backed by Cordell Broadus, the son of rapper Snoop Dogg.
Based on news from Eyewitness News in The Bahamas, it was reported that The University of The Bahamas declared the students who won their Non-fungible token Digital Arts Projects on October 7th. Each student will be rewarded $10,000 for their unique NFT artworks.
In the Visual Art and Music categories, it was the three students in Visual Art and the two students in Music who received awards.
The project received financing from the Champ Medici Arts Fund Scholarship Grant at UB. This partnership encompassed Cordell Broadus, the son of renowned American rapper Snoop Dogg, and the Tezos Foundation (Tezos). The scholarship was initiated in March 2024 with an initial contribution of $100,000.
During an interview with Eyewitness News, a student from the winning group in the Music category shared that his involvement in the competition allowed him to gain a deeper understanding of Non-Fungible Token (NFT) technology.
The CMAF is a $1 million philanthropic fund started by Cordell Broadus in partnership with the Tezos Foundation. Their goal was to support emerging musicians and artists across the globe who want to build and create new creative and cultural works on the Tezos blockchain.
According to OurNews media’s report, the CMAF announced that the NFT competition was just the start of their support for the university’s art and music programs. Additionally, the CMAF and Tezos Foundation will provide educational resources, such as tutorials, materials, and guidance, to help students learn how to mint, promote, and sell their own NFT works on the Tezos blockchain.
This collaborative effort additionally intends to provide the university with necessary tools and technological resources for students, enabling them to explore digital art and music projects in the years ahead.
As a researcher delving into the world of blockchain technology, I find myself exploring Tezos – a sophisticated platform designed for smart contracts, which debuted in 2017 following a successful initial coin offering that raised an impressive $232 million.
By June 2024, they unveiled a fresh update, dubbed “Tezos X,” offering an advanced blockchain system with enhanced capabilities in terms of speed, compatibility, and the ability to connect and work seamlessly with other systems, outperforming its predecessor.
