Ballerina’s Ana De Armas Fights Like A Total Badass In Sweet Featurette, But I’m Really Loving Her Funny Comments On That Wild Flamethrower Scene

As a seasoned gamer and action movie enthusiast who grew up playing games like Max Payne, GTA, and watching John Wick movies, I can’t help but be thrilled about the upcoming release of From the World of John Wick: Ballerina. Having followed the franchise since its inception, I have been eagerly anticipating a fresh perspective on this captivating universe.

The upcoming movie lineup in 2025 boasts several exciting titles generating plenty of interest, one of them being “From the John Wick Universe: Ballerina,” where Ana de Armas takes on the main role. The glimpses we’ve seen so far indicate that she has put immense effort into mastering the action sequences, and her badass portrayal is evident. A recently released behind-the-scenes featurette for the film adds to the hype, with de Armas providing some amusing anecdotes about shooting the thrilling flamethrower scene. What particularly stands out in the video, though, are her humorous remarks concerning that explosive flamethrower scene.

This year at CCXP Brazil, Lionsgate unveiled one of their upcoming action films, directed by Len Wisman, among many others. During a panel for the movie, they screened the clip shown above for attendees, which offers glimpses of Ana de Armas’ character, Eve Macarro, battling multiple adversaries. In this preview, viewers get to witness Eve throwing individuals off balconies, pinning sparring partners to mats, and much more action-packed scenes.

It’s truly captivating to watch the Blonde actress effortlessly execute the fight sequences. As a fan of top-notch action films, I always enjoy learning about the intricate processes behind those intense on-screen moments. Even amidst all the toughness displayed, there’s one particular scene that demands attention: Eve’s heroic act of extinguishing a flamethrower using a hose. This scene caught my eye even in the Ballerina trailer, but I can’t be the only one who was thrilled by the actress’ own account of it:

The flamethrower scene is insane. I think I burned 106 people up. I only cried with the first man. The other 105, I was fine.

Personally, I can’t help but appreciate the No Time to Die actress’ humorous honesty about shooting that particular sequence. Her sentiments – and the BTS footage of her on set – seem to indicate that she had a great time working on that particular moment. And, of course, how insane does that scene look? The fiery-looking action sequence not only gives me an even greater appreciation for the work that stunt actors do. (And it also makes me glad that I’m not one of the unfortunate souls feeling Macarro’s wrath in the movie.)

Ballerina: An Updated Cast List For The John Wick Spinoff, Including Ana De Armas

Between the occurrences depicted in John Wick Chapter 3 and 4, the film Ballerina switches its focus from Keanu Reeves’ character Baba Yaga to Eve. This origin story will follow Eve as she develops into an assassin and adheres to the rules of the Ruska Roma. She will also employ her skills to seek vengeance for her father’s death. As stated by Len Wiseman and franchise producer Chad Stahelski in a video, they aren’t simply creating a female version of Wick. Instead, their aim is to create a complex character that stands independently. Ana de Armas was thrilled to be chosen for the role.

When I received the chance or proposal, it truly motivated me. To be honest, I’m amazed I managed to make it through unscathed [smiles].

Previously, Ana de Armas labeled the movie as “thrilling,” “perilous,” “seductive” and “very reminiscent of John Wick,” which has me quite intrigued. The recent featurette has only heightened my anticipation for what’s in store, particularly with comments from fellow actors like Ian McShane and the late Lance Reddick. Frankly, this movie sounds like it will be entertaining – I can hardly wait to catch the flamethrower scene on the largest screen available!

You have the opportunity to watch “From the World of John Wick: Ballerina” starting from its theater release on June 6, 2025. Until then, you can enjoy the first three John Wick movies for free on Pluto TV. Alternatively, stream the fourth movie using a Starz subscription.
