As a seasoned gamer and street art enthusiast with a penchant for the unconventional, I must say, Banksy never fails to keep us guessing! His London Zoo series was another masterful blend of wit, irony, and social commentary.
It appears that Banksy, in what fans have called his ‘London Zoo’ project, concluded it with two unexpected twists over the weekend. On Saturday, a feline figure sprawled across an empty billboard in Cricklewood, and on Sunday, a police box in London’s financial area was transformed into a tank filled with aggressive piranhas. Lastly, the mysterious artist disclosed the significance of these pieces as detailed in a recent report by Artnet.
Every day last week, the enigmatic artist Banksy unveiled a new black silhouette of an animal in different parts of London. A goat was found in Richmond on Monday, followed by two elephants in Chelsea on Tuesday. On Wednesday, three monkeys graced a Brick Lane overpass, while Thursday brought a howling wolf atop a satellite dish in Peckham. Lastly, two pelicans sat famished on a fish bar rooftop in Walthamstow on Friday.

Typically, Banksy posted the new series on Instagram with little detail, igniting enthusiastic debate among fans. Interpretations ranged from the goat on the ledge representing humanity precariously balanced, to a reference to the targeting of minorities during recent UK far-right protests.
However, a representative from the Pest Control Office, associated with Banksy, dismissed the rumors, implying that people might have been interpreting things too deeply. In reality, the art pieces were intended to deliver an unanticipated burst of joy and underscore our innate ability for creative expression rather than destruction, as reported by the Observer.
Banksy’s latest works transformed cityscapes into clever visual jokes, such as monkeys frolicking on an overpass or a leopard sneaking through a green part of London. However, not every artwork managed to stay intact for long. On a Thursday afternoon, thieves made off with the satellite dish featuring the howling wolf, and by Saturday, contractors demolished the billboard displaying the wild cat, causing disappointment among onlookers.
An employee asserted that he would preserve the artwork, just in case Banksy desired it again, while otherwise, it seemed destined for the garbage bin. However, the billboard’s proprietor has different ideas, possibly intending to contribute it to a museum or art gallery instead.
