As a longtime fan of streetwear and Japanese culture, I must say that the latest BAPE x Bounty Hunter collaboration truly resonates with my fashion sensibilities. Having grown up during the 90s when both brands were making their mark, it’s fascinating to see these iconic labels come together.
Following the recent reintroduction of its classic shark-themed zip-up hoodie, A Bathing Ape (BAPE) has once more emerged to reveal their fourth joint venture with Bounty Hunter – a renowned Japanese fashion and toy brand helmed by Hikaru Iwanaga.
In this campaign for the joint brand, Iwanaga is the main star, riding a white bicycle while wearing jackets, hoodies, and shirts adorned with the logos of both brands. The prominent figure in this scene wears a varsity jacket colored brown, which displays “BH” in large letters on the chest and shared emblems on the body. A patch on the shoulders reads “93,” referencing the year when BAPE was founded, while another patch with “95” honors Bounty Hunter’s establishment. Lastly, the back of the jacket has “Bathing Hunter” stitching, celebrating their collaboration.
In other areas, you can spot a hoodie resembling a shark, emblazoned with Bounty Hunter’s BXH badge and BAPE’s Ape Head design. Additionally, there’s a black snowboarding jacket in sight, subtly adorned with shark symbols around the hood. The T-shirts display collaborative artwork such as shark-faced designs with trick-of-the-eye zippers and “Baby Milo” drawings.
In terms of footwear, they present two unique styles: the Sharksta featuring a combination of black leather and mesh upper, adorned with logos on both the tongue and heel, and the Skull Shoe, which draws inspiration from an old BAPE design dating back to the ’90s, incorporating collaborative symbols in similar locations.
The brand new BAPE x Bounty Hunter assortment is now up for grabs both online and in BAPE’s physical stores across Japan. Prices vary from 8,800 to 126,000 JPY. Check out the selection showcased in the gallery above for more details.
