As a dedicated DC fan with years of comic book history under my belt and countless hours spent watching every Batman adaptation, I must say that Glen Powell seems like a compelling choice for the next Dark Knight. His charisma and versatility, showcased in his recent roles, make him an exciting prospect for the role.
“Who will take on the role of Batman next, as Warner Bros. prepares for a fresh start in their upcoming DC films? While Robert Pattinson is set to reprise his role in ‘The Batman: Part II’ in 2026, there’s also speculation about another Dark Knight appearing in ‘The Brave and the Bold’ and James Gunn’s new DC Universe. Some suggest Glen Powell might be the one.”
Lately, Powell has been quite busy with appearances in various projects, such as the hit romantic comedy “Anyone But You”, Netflix’s “Hit Man” and the summer blockbuster “Twisters”. Fans of DC Comics have caught on to the actor following several figures from the DC Universe franchise, fueling speculation about his possible casting. The most recent chatter connecting Powell to Batman comes from the voice actor of the animated series “Batman: Caped Crusader”.
During a conversation I had with Hamish Linklater, along with several other reporters at San Diego Comic Con, we inquired about his views on Batman’s future within James Gunn’s DC Universe. In response, he surprisingly said “Glen Powell,” without providing further details. It appears that Linklater has no intention of donning the live-action role himself, as he added:
1. “It’s quite fascinating to watch the animated character that resembles me, and I can’t help but wonder what reaction it might provoke among criminals if they spotted Hamish Linklater cruising down the street in his spandex.”
Linklater provides an innovative perspective on the classic DC hero Batman in “Batman: Caped Crusader,” as it portrays Bruce Wayne’s life and adventures during the 1940s, when he first began his vigilante activities. This Amazon series introduces many familiar villains, including Harley Quinn, Penguin, and Two-Face. In the realm of animated Batman stories, Linklater aims to establish his unique niche following Kevin Conroy’s iconic portrayal.
Apart from Glen Powell currently being a prominent figure in Hollywood, it’s worth noting he has some ties to the Batman universe, as he appeared in Christopher Nolan’s film “The Dark Knight Rises.” When asked about potentially playing the role, Powell suggested a unique approach that would be more akin to Michael Keaton’s portrayal than the recent one by Robert Pattinson.
As time progresses, we’ll discover who will take on the role of Batman next, but it’s intriguing to learn that another Batman actor is considering Glen Powell for the part. By the way, don’t forget to watch Hamish Linklater in “Batman: Caped Crusader,” which is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime!
